I can't stop thinking about work.
I was laid off during Deloitte‘s mass layoff in July of last year. I have worked as an independent contractor since and projects haven’t been consistent at the client I’m working for. I’m looking to get back into a big firm and was seeing if anyone would be able to refer me or help get my foot in the door. I was a business analyst for 1.5 years at Deloitte and have several years of additional experience which I’d be more than happy to share.

Definitely smaller than the amount of people going from consultant to senior
95%+ of the seniors who want to make manager will, senior manager is the level that you really need a business case for. Average time is 3-4 years. If you aren’t up after 4, you’re likely on a performance improvement plan.
EY has/had long been unique in consulting as you go staff > senior > manager > SM
Generally I saw it be a 3-4 year period at senior to reach manager but this is often challenging because EY managers are as or less experienced than senior consultants at competitors
Most seniors will exit before they make manager either to another firm or from consulting
The fact you reference those two like you’ve done something tells us all we need to know
I was able to do it after 1.5 years (mid Senior 2 year). Very difficult and rare but possible as you can see. I’d say 85% make it in 3 years, 10% in 4, and 5% in 2 or less years.
What’s the average pay jump from M to SM in business consulting MCOL?
How rare/difficult is it to make manager after two years at senior?
At EY that is also likely to be the case.
