I think it's funny that I was told when I got my first big girl job, I'll be a catch and that there so many single men in cooperate. I've been working for a while now and everyone I meet is married. Is there I memo I missed?

Fish, need your help. 5th year doing leveraged finance at a V20 in NYC. I’m good at my job but I hate the practice area. Was a direct hire. Ideally, would want to pivot to ECVC but would take PE M&A in a pinch. Have 4 years of international (non-US law) M&A and 1 year of international (US law) capital markets experience. Is it impossible to retool now? Given that markets are hot will I have to drop years (already dropped the 4 years of international experience so not keen to drop more).

What did you do with your science degree?

I secretly want to hook up with consultants who travel weekly in and out of my office.

Why don’t people say where they’re going to in their farewell email and LinkedIn posts? Have always felt cryptic and odd to me as that’s naturally everyone’s first question when finding out someone is leaving: “where are they off to?” I’d rather control the narrative and share upfront then leave people hanging for the LinkedIn announcement. Is it a respect thing for the current company? Thoughts?

Has anyone felt bullied or ganged up on by your staff? I am currently in a situation where I have felt alone on an island with no support from my leadership team and staff. Then my frustrations took over and staff went to HR and shared how “mean” I am. I need ideas on how to handle this moving forward. I feel fake when I am told how to use humble inquiry but I guess it won’t feel fake after I use it more frequently. I will be developing an action plan this week so any insight or suggestions pls

Been trying for 2 years, started the fertility doctor tests, then lost coverage. Just got it back and did a “reset” appointment at fertility clinic, only to find out I’m pregnant. The irony!

I’m glad there’s finally a list like this. But it’s so obvious these were done by PR people at agencies because of the blatant display of Titleism. Show me a list of 40 over 40 of people voted on by their peers or others in the industry. The ones that are crushing it but either didn’t get the fancy title or turned down the title because they also want work-life balance.
