Tips for motivation to wake up early for a light workout during the week? I find it tough to get a consistent sleep schedule as my partner often goes to bed later than me. And often times I work late too. Used to get up at 6:30 to be at work super early pre-covid and when I lived alone. That all changed when lockdown hit/moved in with my partner and I haven't recovered since.

I’m currently on a break post-biglaw, and pre-in house, but not going anywhere because of covid. The anxiety around starting a new job is starting to drive me crazy. It’s only a few weeks, but I can’t just sit here and stress… any suggestions on books to read or other things to do ahead of going in house to prepare? Or if no preparation suggestions, any good book/TV/podcast recommendations are welcome too!

Some of my friends who are parents said they're not worried about covid because it's very low risk for children. They know I'm a teacher and that I'm in a high-risk category. Makes me feel like they don't care about me.

Need to leave for Canada in roughly a month because of US visa expiry but worried about potential travel restrictions in Canada given the bad covid situation. Are there any provinces that are not as hard hit by covid? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Can anyone that has taken disability leave because of stress/anxiety/depression share their story? I came back from the doctor and they strongly advised I take one and I’m looking for some hope.

Current PharmD student here with an interest in transitioning into buy-side. Is this realistic given my profile? I will have ~1 year of SS biotech ER experience at boutique (summer and part-time during school), life science boutique consulting internship, Pfizer externship in medical affairs (oncology), and a comp. intelligence externship at BMS. Should I gun for ER full-time post-grad or try buy-side? I’m doubtful of the latter, more confident in former. Input much appreciated :)

What was your ‘merit’ increase this year? to know what the typical base salary increase was for this year after 2021 having 6-7% inflation. Has anyone successfully negotiated a pay raise for ‘merit’ (read: cost of living) raises? I got 5%. I started at my company beginning of Q2, and was rated as having ‘excellent’ client delivery, but brought down to ‘strong’ because I didn’t do much internal work.

Picking a country to live and work in: my spouse is a Mexican citizen (with US green card) who works in Mexico City, and I'm a US citizen. We want to live together, but my spouse has great career opportunities in tech in MC, and finding a job in the US has been hard. I could likely get a job in MC, but I don't speak Spanish and my income would be much lower. How should we handle the decision of who moves where? We are both looking for tech jobs in the bay area, but we haven't had much success.

New/pivoting into HR! 👋 Currently working as a TA Coord with a little entry level work in HR Ops prior to this. Is there a SHRM link, reliable test, or method of shadowing the various parts of HR that will provide a sample of the work, thinking, and day to day experience of each group? I didn’t go to school for HR and therefore haven’t had the opportunity to sample HR Ops. vs. TA vs. Comp vs. Benefits vs. Payroll, etc. I know work experience is the best barometer, but what can supplement this?
