Help needed 😭 I’m resigning from my first legal job after four years. The firm has become extremely toxic, no raise in two years (not even cost of living) “due to COVID”, and I’m just not growing. There’s four partners, one of which is my main partner, so planning on going to him. Feeling so many emotions right now and know it’s going to be even more emotional walking in and resigning. Any tips on resigning and not burning bridges? Should I be gathering all the partners to do it? TIA all 🤍
Anybody with 3 YOE+ switch from Core tax to their international group? How was the transition? Did you have to step down a level if you were a recent senior/manager? Did you have to switch firms?
Reason I ask is that I wouldn't mind delaying my promotion to manager to get international experience. Want to experience international before jumping from PA.
I am an associate hairstylist and on Sunday me and a group of associates will be discussing a pay raise with our boss. Even though we work over full time and have licensing and excel in our careers we’re making bellow poverty wages. The goal is to get our hourly pay up to $15/hour since it’s currently at $9/hour. I have pulled up research on inflation ratings and compiled them neatly into a slide show. What would you recommend I do? I’m also getting job offers matching $15/hour, the market value
I'm interested in opinions on an exit opportunity. Would you leave BCG at the Consultant level for a promotion to a middle/back office VP role at JPMorgan? Similar TC for both, but much better wlb at JPM. What are the downsides?
Trying to understand what is the hype around emails for mid-year market correction. It is is just eligibility email. Criteria has been well defined and communicated by leadership. Correct me if I am wrong but isn’t everyone who meets DOJ cut-off and is not in PIP will receive the raise? Everyone needs to relax a bit IMO.
I’m 2 years in as an analyst and I got passed over for the associate promotion (analyst program is usually 2.5 years) so I’m really disappointed even though I’ve consistently ranked quite well. I don’t think it’s a good idea to stay for another year since being an analyst for 3.5 years is a major red flag. Should I look for another job at a different bank or try my chances on the buyside? Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Got a promotion. Leading a team now. Contractor from my previous team got assigned to come with me (I'll be hiring more). When I met with the contractor, he said he prefers the work my team is going to be doing, but doesn't prefer to work for me because his ego won't allow him to report to someone with less experience than him. What exactly am I supposed to do with that? Suggestions?
Any tips on asking for a promotion?
My friend raised a resignation request and end date is August 30.How to raise a request to return the laptop and assests?
Please help it's urgent!!!!
I worked at Company A for 3 years and got a 1% raise the entire time, Company B already pays 30k more plus 28k bonus and is offering me more money at mid-year without my asking and I'm doing the same work I was at Company A!!!
Treat your people well!
Would love to know what another managers in non-profit humanitarian orgs are making. I’m in year two as a Regional Manager for West Africa making 50k (4 years with the same company though). Is that typical?
I live in an area where rent for a 2bd/1ba townhome costs $2000 a month(my town’s in a housing crisis), and I am considering if I need to ask for a raise to keep up with cost of living.
My onboarding in progress in CTS. I have registered with NSR(National Skills Registry) and provided the IT PIN to my recruiter. Do I need to raise a request for EBC(Empanelled Background Checkers) verification at NSR?
Hey guys. I’m looking for some advice on a new promotion to Radiology Supervisor. It’s a great opportunity and I know I will be great in the position. The only problem is I’m worried about the issues it may create. I’m pretty fresh out of school (<2yrs) while my peers have 5-10+ years of experience. I know it’s going to cause some tension, and some may even quit. Any advice on how to navigate the situation?
I just found out that I got passed up for promotion to Manager (about to be a 5th yr senior now) after being in the running all year and being a high performer (nominated for awards etc). I get that Covid is a huge factor but I just need to leave the firm. I was planning on leaving when I got the title bump but now I just wanna get out. Any recommendations on how to approach recruiting? Job search? Looking for finance/strategy industry roles.
What can I do if I hired into a role with a a certain pay and job description, but have been doing an entirely different role for the last year that’s worth 3X more? I keep getting promises for promotion and salary increase, but the dates come and go.
I’m sure this is not a unique situation, but would love y’all’s advice! I love my current agency and the work is easy and ngl it’s a big name and looks impressive on a resume. But, I’m currently being offered a new job at a small agency and the money is so so good, it would be a 60% raise and a title change. I’m so torn, I don’t want to risk what I currently have, but I’m so tempted… would you leave a good place for a ton of $$?
Does anyone know generally how much you should get as a raise per year? I’m in the middle of negotiations with my current company and a new company and my current company says they give raises based around performance and inflation, but information online surrounding my new company discusses low pay and low raises that don’t keep up with it. I’m currently stuck on the option and have to make a decision of where to go by Friday…
Need advice. I’m a newly barred associate and I’ve been with my firm for a couple of months. I recently found out another brand new associate is making $10k more than I am. I came in with ~7 years experience as a paralegal in the same area of law. She has no prior experience.
Do I bring this up now or wait to ask for a raise at my review in a year, after I have accomplishments to bolster me? We usually get $10k raises per year so I would ask for a $20k raise next year to be at the same level.

Need Salary insights for a 3 YOE exp lateral hire and immediate joiner. Deloitte USI is offering 7LPA+50k joining bonus, current ctc 4.5 LPA. HR says this is the max for the band, but I see 2 YOE exp guys also getting paid upwards of 9LPA.

I have a colleague who quit her BigLaw job in NY for a BigLaw firm in LA. After relocating to LA and about a week before the start date, the new firm rescinded the offer for undisclosed reasons. It was not related to conflicts issues or anything with her background check. Those cleared before she moved to LA. Employees are at will, but are there promissory estoppel or other claims against this kind of behavior. Colleague not only left previous job as a mid-level but incurred debt while moving.

(24M) I have around 10k saved in my credit union savings account. Thinking about putting a decent amount in a high yield savings account like GS’s Marcus to start compounding interest. I’m not very knowledgeable in investing as I didn’t grow up with a lot or have parents who were money savvy. Does anyone have recommendations on how to navigate the investing landscape? Honestly it’s a little overwhelming and I just feel lost. Should I invest in CDs, index funds, start a Roth IRA ? So many optins

What reason should I tell to my manager and seniors when I am resigning. I have really good relations with them. Tbh I am just leaving because of the pay and hike I am getting in other Big 4.
So I did a little experiment.
About a month ago, I created a LinkedIn profile that was almost identical to my real one with one big change - I made the person a white male instead of myself.
Me - Avg of 2 recruiters / day... mostly niche and focused on tech
White Me - Avg of 10 recruiters / day... overwhelmingly from better "brands" both inside and outside consulting
Whenever people tell me that racism doesn't exist and that white men are "being discriminated against," all I can do is laugh

Really?! No, there's a difference between popularity and being required to.
