Help needed 😭 I’m resigning from my first legal job after four years. The firm has become extremely toxic, no raise in two years (not even cost of living) “due to COVID”, and I’m just not growing. There’s four partners, one of which is my main partner, so planning on going to him. Feeling so many emotions right now and know it’s going to be even more emotional walking in and resigning. Any tips on resigning and not burning bridges? Should I be gathering all the partners to do it? TIA all 🤍

Anybody with 3 YOE+ switch from Core tax to their international group? How was the transition? Did you have to step down a level if you were a recent senior/manager? Did you have to switch firms?

I am an associate hairstylist and on Sunday me and a group of associates will be discussing a pay raise with our boss. Trying to understand what is the hype around emails for mid-year market correction. It is is just eligibility email. Criteria has been well defined and communicated by leadership. Correct me if I am wrong but isn’t everyone who meets DOJ cut-off and is not in PIP will receive the raise? Everyone needs to relax a bit IMO.

I’m 2 years in as an analyst and I got passed over for the associate promotion (analyst program is usually 2.5 years) so I’m really disappointed even though I’ve consistently ranked quite well. I don’t think it’s a good idea to stay for another year since being an analyst for 3.5 years is a major red flag. Should I look for another job at a different bank or try my chances on the buyside? Got a promotion. Leading a team now. Contractor from my previous team got assigned to come with me (I'll be hiring more). When I met with the contractor, he said he prefers the work my team is going to be doing, but doesn't prefer to work for me because his ego won't allow him to report to someone with less experience than him. What can I do if I hired into a role with a a certain pay and job description, but have been doing an entirely different role for the last year that’s worth 3X more? I keep getting promises for promotion and salary increase, but the dates come and go.

I’m sure this is not a unique situation, but would love y’all’s advice! I love my current agency and the work is easy and ngl it’s a big name and looks impressive on a resume. But, I’m currently being offered a new job at a small agency and the money is so so good, it would be a 60% raise and a title change. Does anyone know generally how much you should get as a raise per year? I’m in the middle of negotiations with my current company and a new company and my current company says they give raises based around performance and inflation, but information online surrounding my new company discusses low pay and low raises that don’t keep up with it. Need advice. I’m a newly barred associate and I’ve been with my firm for a couple of months. I recently found out another brand new associate is making $10k more than I am. I came in with ~7 years experience as a paralegal in the same area of law. She has no prior experience.
Do I bring this up now or wait to ask for a raise at my review in a year, after I have accomplishments to bolster me? We usually get $10k raises per year so I would ask for a $20k raise next year to be at the same level.

Need Salary insights for a 3 YOE exp lateral hire and immediate joiner. Deloitte USI is offering 7LPA+50k joining bonus, current ctc 4.5 LPA. HR says this is the max for the band, but I see 2 YOE exp guys also getting paid upwards of 9LPA.

How do companies get categorized when it comes to CC companies (i.e. shopping, dining, travel, etc)? For example, I made a few payments to a travel company but Chase isn’t marking it as travel and therefore I’m receiving less points than I thought I would. Anyone have insight on this?

I have a colleague who quit her BigLaw job in NY for a BigLaw firm in LA. After relocating to LA and about a week before the start date, the new firm rescinded the offer for undisclosed reasons. It was not related to conflicts issues or anything with her background check. Those cleared before she moved to LA. Employees are at will, but are there promissory estoppel or other claims against this kind of behavior. Colleague not only left previous job as a mid-level but incurred debt while moving.
