Which company would you join?
I currently work in Sales with the intention of moving over to marketing in the near future. I received two offers for BDR/SDR roles from Sprout Social and Gong. Both salaries are around the same (Gong - base 63k + anticipated $25k in commission, Sprout - 55k base + anticipated $25k in commission).
I like both companies’ software and it extremely hard to decide which position will get me into marketing faster as it is not a traditional BDR path to take.

Get the Omega you like, and then buy the Rolex yourself down the road with your own money. The satisfaction/sense of accomplishment will be well worth it, and that Rolex will mean so much more.
If you are considering a Rolex and get the Omega, do you think you’ll just regret not going big? Only having 90% of what you want? I think so. In that case, get the Rolex and get the Omega later.

I got a submariner as a college graduation gift. I was fine with getting an OP but they knew I really wanted the sub. Parent’s rationale was if they were going to drop several thousand then it better be the one I love.
I understand this can be construed as a bratty/privileged answer, but this is the “luxury watch” bowl after all.
I don’t think it’s bratty at all!! That’s the thought stream I was having..my parents usually don’t splurge on me but they just want to give me a nice gift this time around that I can have forever/always remember them by 🤷🏻♀️
If you want the Rolex I’d say go for it. Just note that if you are an analyst and you plan on wearing a Rolex in or around work that may attract some flashier attention (more so than an omega would). Not saying that should stop you from going one way or the other but it might be something worth considering
I asked this question originally. I guess maybe I am out of touch but a steel Rolex is a pretty common watch as it goes and not at all expensive compared to like Pateks and Langes. It does seem like people are much more likely to call out a Rolex than a BMW, which is much more expensive.
I think the culture around watches has changed a lot. I think in say, 1980, luxury watches were a more common purchase for professionals and a Rolex wasn’t a big deal. People wore gold presidents on the regular. Now, people wear apple watches and Daniel Wellingtons, so a steel Rolex seems like a big deal even if it’s really just entry-level for Swiss watches.
Because you like both, get the Rolex. It will retain its value much more than Omega. Nothing is wrong with an omega, there is just a very healthy secondary market for Rolex if you ever decide to get rid of it.

If you want a Rolex and settling for an omega, you’ll be in this same spot in a year or two. Save and get the Rolex. Got the Rolex myself and wish I’d gotten it sooner

We need some specifics on models, and what you like/want.
It’s actually a tough decision when it comes to gifts. You don’t want to insult the gift giver. If they would be open to allowing you to add some of your own money to get the dream watch, I’d go that route. I also recommend buying new when it comes to watches; this can be tricky for Rolex, but something like an OP39 would be perfect.
I think aqua terra vs datejust - looking at on steel/white gold

What pieces do you have in mind?
I love the De Ville „Raw“ Steel dial. Probably even a better watch than the DJ. However, you will lose 50% of value instantly.
The DJ can always be traded to something else you like
I also agree that it depends on the model. A steel Oyster Perpetual in Black or Grey should not attract too many eyes. I would even say a 300m Seamaster is probably flashier...
