Father was laid off a few months back and recently got a new job, he’s wondering if we can still file for unemployment for the months where he wasn’t working?

Naive question: How many yearly billable hours are reasonable for a good balance of work and home. I have a young child and don't want to miss out on important moments. I had one firm state that their yearly quota is 1900 hours and I don't have a frame of reference as to whether this is reasonable or if it means 12 hour days. I am coming from public service so billables are 100% new to me. Any insight is appreciated.

So I just got fired…. And was told I’d get two months severance… I’m in utter shock since I just got back from the hospital. I was told I needed to improve my performance in January and all the check ins I’ve had I was told I’m doing much better and was put on multiple long term projects and then this happened. A colleague I worked with who was technically unskilled and not client facing copied my resume bullets word for word. I don’t think he even understands what he has copied, because he has listed (copied) project stakeholders our team interacted with before he joined the engagement. I’m no longer in the engagement, but while I was there, he would leech off of my work and try to somehow make it his own.

Has anyone done a 2-hr roundtrip daily commute for years? Unfortunately in this situation due to location of spouse’s job -it’s fairly rural and that area doesn’t have the same level of education (kid is about to start K), diversity, convenience, jobs opps me, stuff to do or parks as our current city has. Switching jobs is not an option for him unfortunately. I do feel very guilty about the long commute for him though.
