Hello, anyone’s (big law) firm good with remote/hybrid? Corporate/transactional if that helps. Trying to consider how doable it would be to live farther away and commute in 2 or 3x per week, as necessary/useful.

In the past I’ve worked in consumer lending and have been trying to get back into that field of work. My current employer hasn’t really had any openings in any department that I’m interested in and job shadowing hasn’t been an option due to how the workload of the department is. I feel like there's a lot of client facing dev roles or dev roles that rotate a lot of projects. I think real tech companies have a bias towards devs from consulting companies due to this... But I've personally been working on a long term platform at Deloitte.

Just backed out of a signed offer and I feel like shit. The new company was very delayed in issuing an offer letter (3 weeks from verbal) and approaching a month from background check. I missed kick off events and offered to visit happy hours, but they denied that request until after the start date (which had to be pushed back).

🤦‍♀️My stepdaughter fried her gaming pc. We were moving and it sat in the cold and damp in the car for 4 days. We told her to let it warm up and dry out before plugging it in but she didn't wait. The ups was screaming as soon as she plugged it in, the she proceeded to turn it on. We know the power supply is gone, but what are the chances the graphics card is fried? We were able to get a replacement for the rest, but the graphics cards are hard to get according to the store.

I've been struggling since February to get my WFH setup in a way that works for me.

I live in a 2br apartment with my partner so clearing the extra bedroom of distractions (we used it as a video and tabletop gaming room) was an easy choice.

Unfortunately my productivity is much lower than it ever was at the office. I don't really get distracted at home, but I'm not getting as much done either.

Anyone else still stuck like this?
My company doesn't provide budget for home office either :/
