How the f*ck do I train someone to have more attention to detail? It’s one of the most common feedback points, but I haven’t figured out a good way to solve it. Is micromanaging the only option?

Was told by a senior associate at midnight not go to sleep until a document came in (he specifically told me not to sleep and wake up every hour to check as I had suggested). I pulled an all nighter waiting for it and it came in next day at 8 am which the senior forwarded to client. How much time should I bill? I was sitting in front of my laptop watching Netflix on my phone and occasionally slapping myself to stay awake.

Why I love being in industry: I presented a deck and I misspelled "EBITDA" in the exec summary while presenting to the exec team. No one noticed. No one called me out. No one gave me a nasty glance. No one sent a "pls call my mobile" text after. No email with some stuff about "not meeting expectations" or "how could you let this happen in your role". After the wave of panic, I remembered that I'm in industry now. I make more money, work less hours, work with great people, I'm happy.

So f…ing tired of padding bills. I’m an inhouse lawyer often working with biglaw. On a cost-sensitive project we’re working on, we agreed on a max cost limit. Initial 30m meeting with partner and sr associate, jr associate comes in. I instruct them to limit inititial work to half-3/4 day of research and putting thoughts down to the paper. We received a 10p legal memo without further discussions. First bill: Limit maxed Junior associate billed 50h Partner billed 1h for 30m meeting Crazy!!

My current project in Deloitte USI demands atleast 14 hours work time daily. Being an associate, am expected to do work equivalent to Senior cons. Have clearly stated for not being able to work late after 9pm, but the Manager has got just one thing to say, that we need to work with onsite peeps so extending daily is necessary.
