J Walter Thompson only went by JWT for nine years out of its 150+ year history, before changing it back to J Walter Thompson about five years ago, and then the post-merger name of Wunderman Thompson. People often said “I work at Walter Thompson” or occasionally “J Walter” for short. “Jay-double-you-tee” was longer and harder to enunciate, so even though JWT was often written, you didn’t hear people say it aloud as often.
“Tee-bee-double-you-ayy” is six syllables. Many people just call them Chiat. “Double-you-kay” is four. Wieden is much easier.
The letter “W” is a mouthful.

I’m starting an ad agency named uncle where you can opt out of a particularly bad project or pitch by just calling uncle. The morale will be fantastic but we won’t last more than a year
RGA. VMLY&R (ridiculous length) AKQA, GSD&M
Also I’d say RGA, GSP and GSD&M are way better agencies than FCB has been for the last 15 years. Maybe FCB is getting a little better now
