Feel pretty close to getting an offer I’m excited about, but also JUST found out I am pregnant. Any advice on how to negotiate my role in such a way that it accommodates my pregnancy/motherhood? Cont.

First congratulations!! (On baby and job!) Have been in your shoes (found out I was pregnant while interviewing). I was straightforward & told them I was pregnant and negotiated as normal from there. They were more than generous and provided full 3 months coverage even though I was going out on maternity leave within 6 months of starting. If you have better leave at your current gig use that as a starting place for negotiating. The eyes are on the industry and this topic in particular, so hopefully the agency is modernizing policy Good luck and keep us posted on how your convos go. (Negotiating is hard enough without the pregnancy factor!)

Great advice 👆🏻. Also, check your insurance plan! Some places do not kick in until a certain amount of days once you start, and you’ll need to consider supplemental for appointsments, etc.

I’m willing to tell them I intend to have a baby within a year (this will be my 2nd). I’m done apologizing for being a mom in this business and I want to be somewhere that supports me for it (which I think this place could be). But also want to set realistic expectations before stepping into a role, without going in with an X on my back.

Also worth mentioning where I am now has a better mat leave (+2 months) than the new place which is also a factor.

I also think, since you asked about making it accommodate not just pregnancy but motherhood as well, to negotiate the 1x or 2x weekly wfh in your contract but also get your potential future colleagues to talk in depth about your need for autonomy and not being micromanaged, because you obviously are the one juggling life as everyone does, and as anyone would say, having someone else be in charge of how you manage your time as an adult is just stupid. I think it’s also a matter of bringing it back to the work and everything you have to offer. “I realize the importance of time management, of efficiency, of collaboration and clear communication BECAUSE I already have been doing the home/work dance for four years already (including pregnancy), but need an employer who realizes it as well, instead of resisting and living in the dark ages.”

Do you guys at BCG think it would be a smart decision to make a lateral move to PL from Big 4? Have great network and support at current company. The MBB brand, 20k increase in TC, and potential better exit opportunities would be reasons to move. Worried about the challenges of starting from scratch at BCG, proving myself as IC in first few projects, and probably a worse WLB. Would love any insights TIA!

Need advice- How do I make my LinkedIn profile more attractive to recruiters from FAANG or MBB apart from listing the relevant experience? Struggling at work (first time manager, re-orgs, toxic culture) for the last 6 months. Experiencing secondary infertility and PCOS. Decided to hold out to utilize my mat benefits, hopefully to become pregnant after a few rounds of medications and lifestyle changes. No luck. Now work has gotten worse and I’m so burnt out. Been applying to jobs and think I’m close to an offer. Have started seeing a specialist but now scared of TTC with a potential new job offer. Has anyone been here before?

What fee percentage are you paying your Union talent payroll service, aside from P/W?

I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.

Ladies, need some advice. I am in Scrum Master role for tech team that is more senior engineers and architects. Feeling very out of the loop as I am not involved in all the discussions and then asked for progress on items from leaders and that am I not aware of.. the team gets Ad hoc requests so new items come up after that stand up and SM/ M will ping folks directly. Feeling like I have become an assistant who updates tickets and books meetings..
