I had my agency promise me a promotion for 2 years. 12 months after making the worst work I got everything together to quit, without a job on the table.
Sometimes agencies will stay stuff to keep you there. Don’t miss the opportunities to move when they come - if an agency wants to keep you, they’ll find the money. Or a free title. Or will pay for you to come back.
Why not take a new job for more money—and then get promoted there? Your net earnings will be higher and so will your net happinesses. In fact, if your next employer promotes you, you will find yourself in a much more solid position than if you get promoted where you are and then leave.
Would you rather keep not making things, but as a CD?
Or make things, but as an ACD at another agency?
I'd choose the latter.
Are the other shops offering more money?
They always dangle something to keep you there!
I have a friend who is in ACD purgatory. He's running an account but waiting for promotion to look for another job. But current place knows he's waiting for that promotion so they're going to just keep him waiting. How sure are you that you're getting promoted?
This is almost my exact position. Running one account and of course pitching in on others and new business. I’m pretty sure it’s happening
I dont know if its any consolation but there are people who have gone way longer than that without making something. Its a huge problem right now. Some people would say youre lucky for making something in the last year. But I recognize a crappy situation, I hope you get what your agency said was coming.
