Happy Administrative Appreciation Day to all!
JUST started a great job as a sr. EA supporting a C-Suite at one of the smaller but extremely well-known tech companies. However, Facebook (Meta) just reached out to me for a position supporting a SVP and a Director. Is it worth it to pursue the position at meta? Would it open more doors or set me back?
Any Telus EA’s want to provide salary bands?
So anyone Opting In??
YouTube university! The internet is your friend. It has tons of resources and trainings for free. Please do not give up. The reality is that most jobs are digital. Before you decide to call it quits, try watching some videos of trainings and examples. If I run into a roadblock, I look it up and keep it in my files for future use.
Agreed when I don’t know how to do something
my go is YouTube. They have everything on there!
When in doubt, google it out!! Hang in there! The shift back to a more paper driven work place is less likely than a more digitally focused one so this could be the beginning of your training! Don’t let the imposter in your head tell you that it can’t be done! EAs are a lot of things but the best thing to be is adaptable — YOU CAN DO THIS!
I was in the same position when I started at my job. I was coming from a EA position where I we used paper appointment books and.. Rolodex’s!!! I was going through huge imposter syndrome. In my role I was able to ask questions from peers and learn a lot quickly. I think you should give yourself time and learn all you can. Likely the software you will use in this role is the same as many other companies. In the long run it’s just skills you can add to your resume. What programs are you having trouble with specifically?
Mostly it's their internal software but Trello is one that I noticed a lot of EAs use to stay updated on EOD reports. Reminds me of a digital post-it board.
YouTube, Google and ask other EAs!
Remember, they hired YOU for a reason.
Don’t give up on yourself but take this opportunity to learn even more:)
Thank you for the reminder. 😊
This is a great growth opportunity! As others said, give yourself time to pick it up because you will!
You got this! Don’t give up!
