I am on my 3rd H1B company and joined recently. The current employer is someone whom I have worked for before. If I get a better offer in the upcoming months, I would take it. I am concerned that the current one wouldn’t give me a customized Employment Verification Letter. I would need to get it from a common company template. How important it is to have a customized EVL and signature of the manager?
Can any of the MDPs / Partners on this bowl ensure that Jaime and the rest of the MDPs join this bowl?? To ensure that the leadership can listen to any concerns being raised here. This is like an office level PTO
Is it recommended to get two full years of consulting experience before looking for a move elsewhere...for more comp (say to another Big 4, industry, attempt at MBB or FAANG)? Already have 8 yoe in the DoD space outside of consulting. And about 16 months of consulting exp
Getting offers for a similar role and comp for Data platforms at Adobe and Salesforce. Which one would you go for?
Corporate strategy (associate level) salary in SF? Not much salary information found on Google search other than for SWE.
How do you know when you have enough money? I got laid off in the spring, but don’t feel a pressing need to get a new job right away. Have 3 rental properties, all paid off, get about $3k/mth net from that, have about $200k in a 401k and another $200k in more-liquid investments. I spend less than $2k/mth and feel happy and comfortable. Not married and no kids... but would like that one day, so thinking of maybe saving some more money for that. Anyone been in a similar situation? Any advice?
The project I’m on at work right now is actually pretty interesting, but I’m feeling so burnt out and uninspired that everything I have to do feels like a drag. Wish I could feel excited to design. I miss that feeling.
Anyone here that can help me understand the total comp for Microsoft at level 65, principal program manager? Currently remote but might move to Redmond if needed. Thank you!
Hey guys, which country/city are you’ll booking H1-B visa stamp appointment dates? Are you getting any appointments for this year?
Breastfeeding on a zoom call. Yay or nay? Was awkward in the call today. With webcam on. No one said anything but can tell from the faces the bewilderment. 5 people call. 3 women and 2 men. Kept up to point and wrapped the call quickly. I am one of the males btw.
Recommendations for a ‘low-cost’ gym on the UES? Around E. 75th to 85th street preferably. There is a NYSC on E. 76th but they need my credit card on file and I don’t feel comfortable with that
Three months into my first job, I think I didn't ask for a high enough salary. How/when do I course correct?
As I think through my undergrad experience, I realized that I did nothing remarkable. “So few so” that I don’t know what to write for the essay. Many of my peers gained valuable leadership experiences at various clubs or organizations. But I only had a year-long IB internship. Now I am in consulting and that IB experience seems to be more irrelevant. How dare I compete with the other wonderkids?
What happens if you don’t meet utilization targets in a year? I switched from audit to advisory and have been here 2 months and my billable hours are way less than I was expecting (avg 30 a week). I’ve had good feedback on my projects and ask for more work in my down time, but the change of pace from when I was in audit is stressing me out.
Anyone a Brodsky tenant? Looking for a referral
Heard some people got H1B lottery results already. Hope we all get selected! Best of luck folks 🤠
Any PwC kindred spirits out there than can explain what the vacation policy is for that firm?
Coming off of my first real, full week of PTO in my 10+ year career (my fault... that was self- imposed) and WOW. I actually feel refreshed, comfortable with returning tomorrow and grateful that my firm and team did not once try to grab my attention for literally anything. Take your PTO, folks. I'm serious. It helps.
Need counsel: Left advertising to go client side last year. Working at a huge company isn’t for me long-term but the money is great, I have more balance and actually raised my kids this year. I have the opportunity to be a c-suite leader at a very small agency on the rise. Super confused. Money will be less, long-term opportunity will be more. Also thinking about having another kid soonish.
Who’s working on a car account and watching their agency crumble? Countless number of layoffs this year, budget cuts and tiny raises. 😣
