Good things will come, and probably all at once. Job hunting is a full time job filled with negative answers unfortunately… But you only need a good one!
I’m sure the right job is going to come, keep the faith, take care of yourself, because when you’ll be back in the game you will focus more on work than on yourself! 💪💪💪
Same boat. A friend of mine asked if I’d be interested in helping him with his side gig- installing exterior smart light systems. Not the marketing, actually doing installs. I spent 10 hours on a stranger’s roof yesterday far from my neighborhood. It was a looong day. But it changed my perspective on a lot of things. Really grateful that blue collar life isn’t my day to day. With new found gratitude dominating my thinking, I wasn’t that surprised to finally hear back from a freelance thing I’ve been chasing for a while. Get out of your isolated headspace, help someone else, try something new. Something good always comes out of it.
In the same boat. It’s tough but trying to stay positive, take care of myself mentally and physically. It’s always slow early in Q1 never mind the market conditions. It’s a wasteland out there but I’m sure it will pick back up a bit.
Don’t give up! Most researches show that grit is what take people places. Just keep trying. You will get something cool!
PS: try side projects that can make your portfolio feel fresher. It worked for me.
It took me 4 years to land a freelance job I wanted after being laid off in 2009. I did a lot of freelance I hated. It made me take things for granted less and at the same time reassured me I’d be ok if I lost my job. Which made me less timid. And then when I landed, that POV made me a better creative and got me to bigger jobs.
Yeah, that sucks. I was once told my book wasn’t yet the kind that a place would look at. Super encouraging rejection because that’s how you have to think.
Do your own stuff- for local businesses, spec, whatever. Make it realistic (not we took over the Super Bowl) or just own that freelance isn’t building your book so you’re doing work for the accounts you’d love to work on. People want to see ideas.
We’ve all heard that you should dress for the job you want. So you can do the ads for the job you want too.
Hang in there!! You got this! Took me 1 year to find a full time gig.
I like to think after all of those interviews.. you get to level up your pitch :)
It is rough out there. I've been 15+years in the field and I get AD work for half of what I’m worth.
I’m in between jobs and this time sucks the life out of me… seriously taxing in the creative spirit.
Universal single income should be a serious plan for the future of all workers. SPECIALLY with AI moving faster than humans
Words of encouragement: Spring is Coming! ☺️🏵️✨
