Consulting Exit Opportunities

Feeling burnt out....I’d say I’ve applied for 400 job in 2 months. Only got 2 interviews, never went past the first...even getting rejected for ones I’m overqualified for... :/ does this sound right?

I'd advise not to apply more but to apply to fewer jobs strategically. Talk to friends/ alums in potential companies and get referred. This would mean they will call you for an interview atleast if there is a fit!

Ditto. Having the same challenges. Switched up my approach and type of jobs I’m applying for. But still being ghosted after a few rounds of interviews. There seems to be a fair amount of competition in the market.

Have someone look at your resume. Either pay for it or see if your school has career resources for alums. Sounds like you need some help with interview approach as well, but start with the basics.

Have been looking for 1.5 years. Was in the same boat the year, applied to hundreds of jobs and only had maybe a dozen interviews. I’d only make it to the assessment round and only had 2 finals throughout. For the past 5 months though, through this process, I’ve realized what I would actually like to do and am being more selective in what I apply for. Am currently working on my resume to start sending out next week and hoping this renewed approach will garner results so I get your pain OP ☹️

Everyone who’s advising me to use references/referrals, how do you manage to get these? Don’t have any friends in the industry, I’ve been reaching out to alumni etc but not having a lot of luck with actually getting people to reply/help me out

OP, try to get LinkedIn Premium. It let's you inmail people instead of just sending connection requests. Usually I try to look for alumni who have a similar background / career path to me ( they are more likely to help). Make a little pitch about yourself / what you're looking for and why you'd like to talk. Schedule time to talk and they'll offer to refer 75% of the time if you are qualified and have a relevant background.
