Currently in my late 20s and have always worked towards short-term goals e.g. the next promotion or switching companies for better opportunities and pay. Lately I’ve been thinking about leaving consulting but feel lost as to what I should do next and have no idea what my long-term goals are. Has anyone at this life stage thought about long-term goals and what you want to do in 10, 20 years?
We are considering buying a condo as a primary residence for next few years with potential to rent out later. But I feel like they are a terrible deal due to condo fees, which raise the monthly mortgage to something close to a SFH. What am I missing? Is the value of the amenities and having someone take care of the building etc really worth hundreds if not thousands of dollars per month? I don’t want to still be paying close to $1000/month after fully paying off my mortgage… HCOL for context
Are any of you CDs that were promoted to GCDs at small to mid-size agencies where the creative department is not technically divided into groups? If so, what added responsibilities were assigned to you with the promotion? I don’t work at a large agency with the traditional pyramid structure of a GCD having multiple CDs on specific accounts reporting to him/her. I work on 14 accounts.
I only plan on staying in consulting for about 2 more years then off for an MBA. Would it be more worth it to take a level and pay raise at a different big4 moving to senior level rather than going to associate/analyst level at MBB? These are my two choices at the moment. I want to position myself best for post MBA jobs in industry. Salary will def be lower at MBB compared to the senior level at big4 so not sure if it’s worth the trade off in experience.
How do i go about using a job offer as leverage for a promotion? Possible promotion came up at my review and since then another agency has reached out to me.
Ex Accenture M/SM 🐟 - Planning to quit Accenture due to various reasons but curious what is the typical hike one get on promotion from M to SM, CDO Cloud First in East Region (if it matters)
High(ish) performing staff to senior in transfer pricing. What can I expect in terms of raise?
Hey there. When is it appropriate to ask for a raise? Provided, of course, that you're doing a solid job. Cheers!
I work at an association where they have to report the top 10 highly paid employees. Saw that my peer w/ same years of experience is making $70k more than me. I wish I had never seen this information-it has put a horrible twist in my gut and a lot of resentment. Before seeing this info, I had asked my boss for a raise based on the success I've had over the past 8 years but have only gotten 4% bump per year. What can I reasonably ask/expect ? 20%? Do I mention the disparity if boss lowballs?
How much of a salary bump to ask for after a promotion from ACD to CD? For context, I’m an ACD making $170k in NYC with 8-9 years experience. This is my first ACD gig. My boss keeps saying things about how I’ll get a CD gig elsewhere in the next year or two and start making $250k, but that he’ll try to keep me here. So would it be safe for me to ask for $250k to become a CD at my current gig? I don’t expect them to match it exactly, but get close.
Just got a new job with a great raise. Was underpaid before, so I had to monitor spending. I spent $2k on “stuff” this month and I know I should’ve saved it. Any tips to avoid lifestyle creep?
11 years experienced joined as ast. Completing one year next month, When can i expect promotion and what is the process ?
Got denied promotion a 2nd year in a row. Already acting as manager on my current projects and feeling a bit down. Should I try again a 3rd year or just leave now 🧐 Manager : “You fly far under the radar, hit billables, clients like you, coworkers have nothing but good things to say, do good work consistently, but missing the “shine/pluses needed for me to make the business case for promotion”. Let’s work next year to get you there.
A1-A2 tax, 6% raise and 3% VC. Thoughts?
What are some newish when it comes to negotiating salary? I feel like my go-to has always been dependent on the cost of living of whatever city the office is based in, or moving costs, etc. But now that everything is remote I'm not sure how else to navigate my main negotiating points, especially if the role is a promotion.
Does your firm provide an automatic raise each year of practice? Would you request for a raise if you have done exceptionally well and are paid below industry standards or is it just not the year to do so due to the pandemic?
When does the Uber x shop away promotion end?
What is the vertical path like, in your experience, with strategists? How much time and experience needs to be earned before looking towards a promotion?
If my milestone year is in 2023, can anyone tell me if that can ever come down to 2022. Also 2023 is a year, which quarter do they actually give the promotion.
Is there an appropriate way to convey high chargeability on your resume? My firm doesn’t provide quantitative rankings as far as reviews go, but my utilization is 30% higher than the average so I’m trying to figure out how to convey that as an indicator of high performance
Anyone know what the Deloitte interview process is like for Consultant and Senior Consultant levels? Does it differ for GPS as well?

My Cobra runs out in January so I need to find health insurance but am so busy with projects I haven’t found the time to do the research. Any recos for a good broker that can find the best policy for me?
Just got offered a salary that is about 34K more than what I earn now for the same position. I love where I work though and want to see if I can negotiate my current salary. How should I go about it?
As a member of the bar, it is unfortunate some of the fellow lawyers abuse their position by threatening non-lawyers who find a concept of litigation too intimidating. A family member was trying to rent out an apartment and received multiple offers. One of the prospective renters is now threatening to sue unless they get paid for a month worth of rent or they actually get the apt. No paper signed, but they tried to make it sound like they actually had a meritorious case using lawyer status.
My tech client wants a “Think Different” type of manifesto ad that will run for a year and magically increase their diversity hires while publicly making them look like (cont’d)
Were you out at work or with your family first? Would also love to hear if it was your gender or your sexuality (or both) too.
