It seems like depending on personality type and having / not having a healthy support network, some people fare a lot worse than others in these times of wfh. Some of us experienced for the first time major depression, disassociation, derealization… Someone stole 2 years of our lives that we were hoping to make the most of. During this time some people got married, had kids, developed hobbies etc. Others just worked grueling hours in solitude. Maybe the solution is to consider why some of us reduce ourselves to just work. Maybe we just need to quit💁🏻‍♀️ and then figure out what to do next. After all, unless you and your boss are golf buddies already, opportunities for real networking and thus social advancement are largely gone.

How are you setting boundaries exactly? Answering your phone and supporting others to your detriment doesn’t sound like boundaries to me

Have had direct conversations about my hours. Have laid out priority activities and timelines to allow for progress without missing deadlines but not requiring constant 12-14 hr days. Have scheduled pto at times that cause the least impact. No matter what though something always comes up and my boss forgets everything we’ve talked about. And yes, I remind them. Also, I don’t answer my phone but I see the messages and it just adds stress

You should have a personal cell and a work cell. Leave your work cell in a separate space or turn off after your boundary hours hit. That may help a lot!!!

I haven't worked a Friday in 17 weeks. I'm going to this week due to a day off yesterday. But not even last week with Labor Day. I hit 48 hours for the week and I bail.

We are experiencing more behavioral issues from all students bringing our Administration, Middle School Building Principal to create a Discipline Team. I am on the team. I am a SPED teaher. Youth's emotional worth and ability to learn communication, working, socializing with peers during Middle School especially, was ceased. Our students, due to COVID-19, are acting nearly 2 years behind their maturity level. This is a fact across the USA. Guessing, across the world.

I’ve been in the industry for about 20 years, hundreds of pitches, dozens of speaking events at big shows. I used to be a natural when presenting. Fluid, clever and insightful while keeping it friendly and conversational. Since covid and WFH my presentation focus is totally off. Low energy, nervous, dry mouth, reading off slides, hard to keep my mind in the bigger picture or focus on the story. Womp womp. Really getting me down and not sure how to get the magic back. Depressing.

Quick vent: fiancé and I were going to put an offer in on an apartment we loved before all of this Covid stuff happened but changed that plan to rent to buy starting Aug to be safer. The sellers just told us they accepted someone else’s offer to buy. We, especially me, were in love with the apartment but we were too risk adverse to buy now bc if Covid and fiancé working at a startup that had layoffs in the beginning. Just sad bc we’ve been looking for two years and this was the perfect place.

Question: The company that you are working for offers cloud managed services and has been approached by a potential client. What are some areas (or red flags) you would consider before responding to their RFP? ( I started putting together a response but would love to get your insights) Answer: 1) Understanding of current annual spending vs spending if they adopted our cloud services 2) Clients expected growth rate 3) Regulatory requirements depending on industry (medical, fed etc)
