I can’t stand most women in manager roles and I’m a woman myself. I’d much rather work for a man. There’s no petty bs. Everything is direct and no one gets hurt feelings.
Two-thirds of women say they’ve been bullied by another woman at work. What’s your take on it? I’m pretty sure that we’re equal with men on that one. Should bullying be assigned a gender?
How do you deal with non-accepting family members? I don’t make it a thing, but I’ve been advised to take off my tie and change into more feminine clothing around them. I am okay with not discussing my personal life, but I don’t feel comfortable changing my dress. So I just don’t keep in contact with those relatives. A therapist told me that I am not secure in my gender identity if I am not willing to take off a tie and show compassion to a family member who would be upset by it? Am I selfish?
What do DEI people actually do? Besides give the (mostly false) appearance of diversity within the agency?

Parents are deciding between moving to WVirginia vs Virginia for retirement to be closer to us based in fairfax, va(ideally be at 1 hour driving distance). They currently in the mid west but WVirginia appeals to them because of low taxes, low cost of living. We are also poc so appreciate some diversity. What are some areas you would recommend both in Va and WV? What else should they consider prior to house hunting? Dad likes to garden/farm as well so looking for homes with large backyards. Tia!

Does it make sense to boomerang back to big 4 just to brand my resume for exit ops in moving to industry in the future? I’m two years away from manager and my plan is to leave public once I make manager. My thoughts are exit opps will be greater if I leave from a big 4 AAS group rather than leaving from my current middle market firm, but does it really matter leaving from a middle market vs big 4?

If you are not a partner, do any of the Big 4 have a mandatory retirement age? I have a friend who is working in industry and has been approached by a few firms as he has a very desirable technical skill set. He is in his 50's and doesn't want to make a move unless there is some runway to keep working. He basically could work as long as he wants where he is at. The pay increase would be significant for him to jump to but if he is mandatorily forced out in a few years it might not be worth it.
