Took me over a 100 apps before I got the role I wanted! You got this!
Mentor
took me 300-400, don’t feel bad OP 😂😂
To give you some data points: pre covid I did over 300 apps to land a job in big tech. I had roughly a dozen first round interviews, 5-6 final rounds and 3 offers (two of which were insultingly low).
Despite the grind it only takes one. I love my new job and feel very refreshed after spending 8 years in consulting.
If I interviewed for a role and got rejected I did not reapply for that specific role. This applied regardless if whether it was a phone screening or in person.
There were several roles that I loved but were posted 3+ weeks prior. When postings were refreshed I reapplied regardless of whether I hadnt heard or got a generic rejection email.
The role I got had like 4 slots- the initial round of candidates they only filled 1 position as many of the candidates felt better on paper than in person. The refreshed posting was for these remaining 3.
I know the feeling!! I just got rejected at FANG and I know I killed the interviews. But it’s about how we fall forward!!’ You can do it !! Don’t worry I believe in you!!!
A1, looks like you were over qualified for the role
And, is ghosting becoming the norm, even in late stages? We should create a database of these companies with the name of the resource/hiring manager! Shame em!

Would be cool to expand this database to include typical recruiter questions also. Crowdsourcing FTW
Me too sis
Go the referral route if you aren’t already. It’s slower but the results are worlds apart. LinkedIn connection + informational interview. Between similar tiered companies and same resume, I only received call backs for ones I received a referral. Good luck OP!
This is how I got my current position. Messaged a partner and she actually responded. We talked and she referred me
This job search is really taking its toll on me as well. Seems like there has been another slowdown in terms of movement and job postings. I thought after labor day we would see a pick up but seems to have slowed down again. I have seen a number of companies go with internal hires. At the end of the day I think this is beyond our control. Companies have no clue what is going to happen in the next 3 or 6 months.
It took me about a year of applying and interviews to land the job i wanted. I just resigned today and moving into the company/ position I wanted!!
Yes of course! I essentially took any and all interviews that came my way and reached out to my network asking for a referral. I took the interviews at jobs i didn’t want to prep me for an interview i did want. This helped me land the job i received now. I got a referral through someone i randomly met and just struck up a convo with in a lobby. I sent him my resume and killed the interviews just by prepping for hours (either with other interviews or quizzing myself on how I’d answer questions). Really helped me land the job!
Whats crazy is a lot of these companies interviews consultants just to get free consulting through the interview process. Dealing with those type of companies are the worst.
That is some seriously shady practices. Interested to hear if anyone has confirmed this, and how so?
Don’t worry, last week I did 3 full loop interviews and got all rejected. Being struggling for a year now.😀😃
It just seems like nothing is moving. I see the same positions posted over and over again. I’ve got quite a few people looking for me..but what do you do if the work just isn’t there? I feel like a financial ticking time bomb.
It’s so tough with many people getting let go. My way of staying positive is just reminding myself that at least I am looking while having a role.

Same here. It’s so easy to give up too...
Right there with you, but definitely echo the above comments regarding referrals. Anyone I know who’s landed a role in the past couple months has done so through referrals and using their network
Same here been looking since summer last year 😭😭😭😭😭
You got this, i am on the same boat
I felt the same way. Was looking for over a year and had no hope. Rejection after rejection until finally I got an offer for my dream role. Keep applying and don’t lose hope. Take it from me, literally been looking for over a year, applied to over 200 jobs. It works out but you have to be persistent and don’t lose faith
Same here. Hang on. You will find what you want. I have been rejected from FAANG after performing well. Keep applying bro
Me too my dude hang in there it’s all for the best
Taking risks isn't a mistake. It sounds like you knew what you wanted, went for it, got it (twice), and things out of your control messed it up. But from your responses it sounds like you've had great experiences that plenty of people your age haven't. I learned more about vc from reading your comments than I have anywhere else on this app
