Feeling really stuck in my job… part of it is a toxic work culture that’s dragging me down but in the end I don’t think it’s what I want to do (associate buyer in the retail world).

Outside of work, I coach and am a director for youth and high school sports. It doesn’t make enough to cover expenses full time but it’s my true passion.

Anyone have advice or careers where they feel work life balance/flexible work schedule works with coaching?

Sounds like remote job is what you're looking for and software or tech industry comes go mind.

I work remote as a software developer and legit work about 20 hours a week. Plenty of time for coaching the kiddos. I transitioned from HVAC two years ago after doing a coding bootcamp. Went from ~45k to 68k in my first role to 110k now. Do it!

I went to devCodeCamp because they offered an online program and accepted the GI Bill. Overall good experience.

Basically I moved from a large city to the rural Southeast when I lost a child custody move away. So I found myself in the middle of nowhere, moving wasn't an option if I wanted to retain 50-50 custody. HVAC was an okay choice for a few years but when I married my wife and we had a second kiddo, it just wasn't cutting it.

Bachelor's in Political Science, spent six years as a military officer, and ran a small landscaping franchise prior to losing the move away.

So I wasn't some schlep, but the bootcamp really helped us get back on track financially and professionally after a major life hurdle.

We took a little gamble - the GI Bill made it much easier - and it's paid off well so far.

I have over 12 years in B2B sales/sales management experience along with a graduate degree. I am wanting to shift gears and I am at a point where I can invest time in myself to learn through practical experience. The new industry I am wanting to pursue is real estate investment. I have read all the books but want some hands on experience on the property management side. How could I best leverage my skills for a role in this, and what should my expectations be for negotiation in compensation?

Anyone in Estate Planning/Private Client?
How does the practice looks like? Any recommendations for someone looking to transition into it from international tax? (have prior summer experience in big law in private client) currently at b4

Is there really value in a top MBA on sponsorship if you're already at MBB and looking to stay in consulting for at least the medium term (and potentially long term)? Assume I don't need "a fun break", which seems to be common rationale. On a personal level, the time spent in long distance with my wife + two years of lost income hurts. But if there are long term benefits, I may stomach it.

Entering an MBB firm next year after graduation and am curious if someone could expand upon the concept of “setting boundaries” at work so that your WLB doesn’t go completely out of whack. I know this sounds simple but I’m having a hard time envisioning a way to set such boundaries without coming across as insubordinate or a shithead that is trying to do the bare minimum.

I’ve been extremely busy. Because of this, I have less patience for the constant follow up required for me to get things out the door (I’m talking about weeks of unanswered e-mails and phone calls). I have been finding it difficult to raise the issue because everyone seems appreciative and many partners (including the ones who are causing the unnecessary stress) go out of their way to tell me what a fantastic job I’m doing. Any suggestions as to how to raise this without jeopardizing my status?
