Feeling really stupid rn lol I chose to pursue something with someone who told me from the start to run and somehow my naivety thought it would end differently.

Coming from a family of immigrants and being one yourself, does anyone ever feel a sense of guilt with your success/salary versus your family members? If so, how have you dealt with this? Any suggestions on how to deal with it internally and emotionally?

I’m in my second long-term relationship (first was from age 16-20, he broke up with me). My current boyfriend and I have been together for 3 years and I feel like it’s time to end things. However, I’ve never ended a long-term relationship and it feels legitimately impossible. Our lives and families are so intertwined and I just don’t know what to do. How did you end your long-term relationship? Advice?

I have a pretty passionate hate for those who have “no fault” divorces. These people can’t keep one single promise in their life even when they have the choice of anyone on an entire planet and are not forced one bit into a decision.

Spouse is a state department employee and currently overseas. I’m a manager with three years of experience in consulting and 8 years of experience in the military where I left as a O-3 (GS-12 equivalent). SO wants me to take a non-negotiable family member hire role at the embassy overseas for one year so we can co-locate. Job sounds interesting, but is a non-negotiable GS-6 equivalent. Family life would be great but am I derailing my career permanently? Can I explain this in the future?

At this moment, I am almost depressed. I am in a relationship with this guy for 2 years now. In the past 2 years, we have fought more than we have lived days with peace. My friend is pregnant (planned with her husband) and I want to be excited for her but all she does is complain 24/7 so I’m always drained when I talk to her or when she texts. She constantly makes self-deprecating comments and complains about her toddler as well.

This job search is discouraging 😞 6 interviews so far (4 month span) all of them went great (in my eyes) however 3 were no’s, 2 are radio silence and 1 which I thought I was close to an offer is silent. The recruiter even reached out to me to keep me updated and gave me a deadline on when I was to hear something back. Well, that deadline came and went. I reached out to the recruiter and it’s been crickets. 😔

How do you deal with parents who are Christian fanatics? They’re very loving, and I am Christian too, but not to the point where I want to impose my beliefs on others. They’re ~50 and I am in my early 20s. Great relationship now but strained if I ever bring up politics.

I just read a book called The Midnight Library. Fiction, about a woman who kills herself and finds an in-between state where she gets to explore the infinite other paths her life *might* have taken based on all the choices she made during her life (to end her promising swimming career, to quit her high school band, to dump her boyfriend). She had to choose in the in-between place if she wanted any of those other lives instead of her “root” life, and she could choose to survive.
