Feels weird to be at the airport with sweatpants and sneakers on. So this is traveling for leisure...

Pro tip: Always dress to impress when traveling. You never know who you're going to meet at the airport or on the plane could be that person who offers you that next big job.

All valid points, but let's be real here. Based on the posts on this forum and my own personal experience: we consultants would rather die than talk to someone on the plane.

@ACN1. The odds of that (finding someone worth talking to that is also interested in talking, having a truly sparking/flawless conversation, them feeling impressed enough to to extend you a job offer) are so insanely low…highlights from the last ~150 segments – bratty French teenager, trophy wife (paired with gropy/touchy husband), Al Franken, British band I didn't recognize, Deloitte ERS (lol), most of the Utah congressional delegation (yes, I live in DC), partner from my office who doesn't know who I am, non-English speaker, and so on

Yeah. Pretty sure my chances of getting hired in sweats on a plane are only a hair lower than getting hired in a suit. Given that they both are rare circumstances.

Why I always dress nicely when I travel: youtu.be/GqqRdtFTdLE

Agree with ACN1, but I recently did a long haul flight in coach (international) and did the sweatpants with running shoes combo. Bought a neck pillow just to humor myself and complete the dorky traveler look. SO GREAT!! :)

Having a bit of an existential crisis - but fishbowl hasn’t steered me wrong so far.

I’ve got an offer to study a masters in international affairs (focus in economics) at Columbia SIPA (no financial aid package) or I could stay in management consulting (5-6 ywe) at Oliver Wyman.

I enjoy consulting but it wasn’t what I see myself doing long term. Longer term I saw myself either being an economist or working in the world bank.

Interested in the perspectives of folks in this bowl. Thanks guys

How flexible/encouraging are the other consulting firms with the employee having a say in the selection of their engagement ( aligning with interest/subcomp)? My preferences were overlooked yet again.

I started a new role at a new company a month ago. As it’s a newly created role, everyone is still trying to find work for me. Other members on my team are busy and haven’t had time to help onboard me or give me work. My manager announced last week that he’s leaving the company as well.

I’m considering leaving. Another company has caught my attention, and I’m very interested in their products and culture. How bad would it look to leave a new job after 1-2 months though?
