As someone who as been in this sort, you do you. Deloitte smiles at those who leave for their clients. The real question is, where will you be more happy 3 years from now?
Let me get this straight, you think you have to ask permission to apply to other jobs?
And regardless, in this scenario the client may ask his colleagues
Well, there is no dilemma here. You found a job at a company that you did not serve for while working with Deloitte. So you apply. Whether they reach out to the PPMD group or not is immaterial. And even if they did, unless you burnt that bridge, you’ll be fine.
Hey so I’ve had experience the other way, moving from industry to McKinsey, where McK served them. It worked that after I passed the 1st round interview, I had to inform my manager I was through to second round. Inconvenient for sure but was fine. Not sure about the other way around though.
Happened to me, client told firm and made it very uncomfortable since firm was not aware. I recovered but your firm may assume you are a flight risk or worse, proceed with care.
Inform the company/ company HR to not reach out to anyone in Deloitte because you would want to do so at an appropriate time. They generally are aware of sensitivity around reaching current employer and will be mindful of that.
If company is a restricted entity you are required by policy to inform deloitte. Otherwise, you do you :)
.. (continued) the same PPMD group that i worked with a couple of years ago is on the company’s project - to which i was about to apply to. any advice on how to navigate this? .. there’s a good chance the company’s hiring manager might check with Deloitte project team because we have common connections on Linkedin, and i’m not sure if the Deloitte team would take the news well.. im also not sure if i should first reach out to the Deloitte team and let them know i’m applying to the the company’s job posting incase there are any policy violations etc .. any advice, especially from experience, would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance 😊
Been in a similar situation. It's not too bad. More than likely they wont ask, without your consent.
