My company offered to pay my way through the CFP program, on the contingency that I will pass and also stay with them for 10 years after the fact. Is this normal? It seems unfair to make me pay them back down the road if I decide to take a better opportunity. It’s a small business that is worried I will leave.
Does anyone here hold a non-CFA designation (CFP, CAIA, FRM etc.) and what kind of role/position do you have?
CFP study tips? Just started program this week.
Any idea what the average compensation is for a Non-sales associate with 15 years experience and a CFP (large city)...
If anyone out here is a rising CFP and looking for their next opportunity near or around the Minneapolis, MN area, DM me! I had an awesome conversation with a firm yesterday who is looking to fill a junior advisor role (succession opportunity down the road). This sounds like a great opportunity for the right person!
Looking to expand my knowledge beyond basic portfolio and planning but really not into full commitment of cfp. My junior advisor will be getting it. That said, what is a good way to learn/designation
What is a good website to compare financial advisor options? I’m looking at individual profiles on NAPFA and CFP but I am not getting a good sense of which firms / agents are better than others.
I have my CFP and my CRPC. I’ve thought of dropping the CRPC and just maintaining the CFP. Thoughts?
Anyone here a CFP (certified financial planner)? Any recs for programs and/or tips/tricks?
Will begin studying for the CFP in a month or so using the Dalton review. Should I fork out the extra $1,000 or so for the guaranteed to pass feature? Any reviews on the Dalton program?
JPMorgan Chase If someone wants to be promoted from Private Client to Private Bank, how can he do that, besides exceeding sales goals and getting the CFP? Any other steps?
Got an offer to work on a team at Morgan Stanley. 2 other advisors, $300m aum, mostly free based, financial planning practice. I’m a CFP at Edward Jones. Sounds like the ideal practice to be working on. Pros and cons of Morgan Stanley? How is their comp structure? What’s a typical fee based % rate?
How much can I negotiate in a new entry-level role with same company? I've been in a training program for a year at a bank making 50k. I have my MBA and they have agreed to pay for my CFP. I am about to get a new role in the Trust department as an admin assistant to learn...what should my salary expectation be? What can I realistically negotiate?
CFP designation even though not a fee base planner. Do you see any conflicts of interest/ misleading? Should a CFP be required to be a fee based planner?
I don't have anyone else who gets this, but I hit my personal goal this year in almost every category; revenue, income, AUM growth, etc. Our fiscal year ends in October and I ended the year with a bang. Just super excited and I hope everyone else knows, this business is worth it when you put in the time and effort! Edit: also passed CFP in March!
Anyone take the CFP online? Looking at the self paced versus online video instructor versus go to local University. Looking for any insight.

Accidentally texted Engagement Partner instead of wife about finally taking care of the dishes. Partner replies: "Yep, same here.. Our wives run a tight ship" 😅😅
Accidentally asked the client to massage me. I meant for her to message me, but hey, I could use a massage, too.
Anyone had any negative effects of rolling off early? (by your choice) Or is it best to just stick it out? (5months left)😖
When you match with someone really attractive on tinder on the day you roll off.....#thestruggle
Are McKinsey and BCG still aggressively hiring EHs? Growing frustrated with my current firm and considering pursuing a change.
I applied to all three MBB firms via their careers page with no referral. I have my final round with McKinsey, rejected by Boston, and no reply from Bain. Any thoughts on how to verify if I’ve been rejected by Bain even though the portal says it’s still pending for 2 months? The portal will not let me reapply for any position while the current app is pending. Thanks!
Is there anyone here who has anxiety/fear about showing up to work the next day? I'm not sure if this feeling is just exclusive to new hires or what...
Is it only Wednesday? #humpday
