What benefits, perks, and other work life balance things would you like your consulting firm to have in an ideal world?
Would some please explain the benefits (i.e., tax advantage) of maxing out 401K, HSA, and IRA? I am doing it because I have learned it’s the right thing to do but not sure I understand why. TIA
I just found out I’m pregnant this morning. I have an offer for an in-house job which I’m thinking about to accept but they only provide 10 weeks maternity leave. My current firm offers 18 weeks. Should I stay for the maternity leave? I’m doing great in my current firm and received positive feedback in the performance review last week. But I know I’m going to move in-house eventually so I’m worried if I miss this opportunity it may not be easy for me to land another job.
I am about to return to work after maternity leave. I have a 4 month old and a two year old. Our daycare is periodically closing due to COVID. We don’t have family nearby to help when daycare closes and I’ll be headed into busy season upon my return. I’m already on a reduced schedule. No one else I know is in my shoes in my group/office at EY. How have your families in similar situations dealt with this? I feel like I’ll be very unreliable as we head into the busy season.
What amount would make you quit on the spot (whether its just to retire or work for yourself)?
Per diem dinner allowance for Orlando at KPMG seems low at $33. That city has become much more expensive especially since it’s essentially a resort town. What do other firms allow?
Anyone know of firms that have international locations? Or do healthcare work internationally?

I'm a Registered Nurse who's been working as a sales professional for the last 11yrs. Ironically, none of the sales jobs I've been recruited for have been in healthcare. They've all been in the industrial setting (O&G, Chemicals, etc). I just moved across the country for my husband's job, and the new job I found is terrible. I'm looking to get back to my roots in healthcare and apply my sales experience to that sector, but I'm not getting any calls back for this sector. What am I doing wrong?
Unemployment question: Does anyone know if unemployment benefits pick up again right after working freelance (1 week)? I’m so bored and want nothing more than to work but don’t want to screw up any...
Just accepted an offer at PwC and noticed they don’t have a Roth 401k but they do have an after tax 401k. Does anyone have an opinion of what is better, pre-tax vs after-tax? I’ll be making around 100k with bonus and currently have about 20k in retirement savings at 25y.o
Advice for getting an internship this summer (MBA student)? Do hospitals systems do this or would I be better off looking at other areas of healthcare? Focusing on strategy and biz dev. Any advice or people willing to talk much appreciated.
Has anyone seen change in benefits due to this mandated work from home shift? Like online subscription for health related stuff, Teledoc or daycare/many, etc?
If we have good, free healthcare through spouse’s job (military), is it still worth it to pay for a high deductible plan through my job to get the benefit of an HSA? For context, we are a family of three. The cost of the health care plan just for myself would be $20/paycheck every two weeks (or about $520/year). Cost to add husband or child to the plan is over $200/paycheck (so I know that’s not an option). My thought is it’s not worth it to pay for the plan, but is there another pt of view?

Which health insurance plan do you recommend for pregnancy and maternity care? Looking for switching during current open enrollment . From the Deloitte sponsored plans, narrowed down to these 3 - Anthem Bluecard PPO, Aetna Select, UHC PPO. I am currently enrolled for Anthem Bluecard PPO and looking for other best options, if any. Also, if I get pregnant in December and switch to any other from Jan, will that works or the new insurance provider might raise a concern to cover the expenses? TIA!
