Felt I received a couple of unfair performance reviews from the same engagement - the senior & manager definitely had a “boy’s club” mentality so we were civil but at times felt they didn’t like me. Their reviews lowered my overall ratings to slightly below average and I wasn’t promoted. Thing is, they never communicated I was as bad as they rated me while I was working with them, and I definitely put in the work. Anything I can do?

Alright if you don’t want to disclose what year you are...if you’re a first year that got held back, your team straight up didn’t like you and/or you for real did a shoddy job. If you’re a second year getting held back it’s a bit more political than that. I have had two friends talk to their coaches the minute the first bad review dropped. One coach even stood up for my friend to the reviewer and made sure it didn’t impact her too much.

No you’re not supposed to be on that call (although my coach and manager always tell me what was said on the call...they gossip lol)
You fill out that stupid form about what you accomplished this year and how you contributed to the firm (FY20 Senior and Staff Template) and email it in. Are you not based in the US firm? Maybe that’s why.

Speak to your coach or counselor to get off their engagements and not work with them. Your better off avoiding them.

I hate when people do that, if you were that bad they wouldn’t have you reccurring on the engagement. They just needed a scapegoat

No, they would have used u as a scapegoat regardless. Your off their engagement. I feel the only way you can deal with such people is to show that you respect yourself and that you won’t take shit. Like don’t try to be super nice and don’t show weakness. They will utilize it to their advantage

Sorry this is happening to you. Not much you can do now. Seems like promotion decisions were made already. Take it as a lesson learned. Next time challenge the feedback right away if you feel it's not fair. Also maybe a lesson about boys club in the office and /or jerk managers. Again sorry. Hope your future experiences are better

I will ask to be removed from that engagement if they dont allow you to grow. And it is like back stabbing you for a performance feedback that was not discussed with you.

Not all form “allow” you to choose engagement. Back then My team at one of the B4 rather lose me than let to go to another team. I have interviewed with another internal practice line and they made me the offer, but the team I was in blocked my transfer. I ended up leaving.

I am experiencing the same, working with a senior manager who loves to complain about me and my work to HR instead of coming to me directly. There are times I am shocked when HR come to me telling me I am not performing.

That’s not good either... the Senior Manager should have communicated it to you firrst.

It’s pretty normal to request a change in coach. It’s just a function in rpm.
