D5 you're an idiot. You have no idea what it means to go to war. Does you job including giving your life? If you don't get your little presentation on PowerPoint done are you going to get beheaded, shot at or blown up? They should get as much as they can because cowards like you would not sacrifice your self for the greater good. And you are so unformed.... when I was in Iraq I worked in a special operation group and the commander had a MBA from Harvard. I have an MBA for a good school. I have meet mechanical engineers from MIT. Nuclear scientist, pilots, doctors, Generals etc. The military has about 1 million people that serve less than 1% and of course not everybody can be a Harvard grad. I am a manager at Deloitte and there are people at the firm that should be there. Your statement is so unformed it don't even know what else to say.
D5, I can see what you're saying, but have you talked to any veterans about why they "chose" to serve? Some people join because they don't see a choice. Some people join because they want to serve the country. And some people join for a slew of reasons in between. No matter the reason, these people are putting their lives on the line for us and are getting shit thrown back at them when it comes to post service healthcare and benefits. Just because we don't feel like it's something to be commended for doesn't mean we can ignore the sacrifice they have made. We need to stop treating our service peone (e.g. Military, law enforcement, teachers, etc) like shit just because they "chose" the role. Choice ain't got nothin to do with it. Without them we'd be nothing.
Yeah nice brag and stuff
Maybe OP is hoping that their example will inspire others to similar acts of kindness
That's incredible!!!! I have completed 4 tours to Iraq and Afghanistan. One tour I didn't have running water for a year. I Washed with water bottles. Your gesture goes a long way in saying thank you and it's something he will tell his family about. Bravo to you!!! Thank you for your support!!!!
You just negated your altruistic act by using it for up-votes.
This is why no one like Deloitte
I'm going to get flamed but here goes: why does everyone think soldiers are that special? They signed up for a job, they do it. More than likely they don't have skills for anything else and needed the paid practical training. It's not like it's conscription and they serve their country involuntarily. You know what you signed up for. It's your choice to sleep in the desert, with no running water and get shot at. Don't expect special treatment or discounts when you just did your job. We do our job too and we choose it just the same.
You should write about this. This what should be in our faces not the shit that is posted everywhere. Acts of kindness are contagious. Hopefully the shitty people no here would do something nice for someone else. Great act of kindness. And you should tell people. What the big deal.
Lol A2 do you honestly think posting about it is enough in the negative to negate the entire act? That's absurd.
It's commendable BECAUSE it's voluntary. It wouldn't be if we had conscription. The reason we get to fly around in fancy suits making too much money is because others have volunteered to protects us.
If you can thank a bus driver for doing his/her, you can thank somebody for risking a bullet as part of his/her job.
If you don't thank your bus driver, well then, at least you're consistent. Sadly, though, consistently an asshole =\
--leftist who has no time for your shit
Stop signing up for something you don't believe in then? Stop being a pawn for the politicians? Not sure what's dumber: knowing you're going to be a pawn to put your life on the line by some politician, or naively thinking that it's going to help your own country by killing innocent people elsewhere in the world (given the current foreign policy of being world police)
I did it because I have faith in our democracy. I not just a bottom feeder like you D5. I at least gave something back. I would gladly put my life on the line for the greater good and I have multiple times. Even for an ungrateful person like yourself. Study a little about history get smart on it and then get back on here. If there weren't people willing to make the ultimate sacrifice you would not be here. We have also killed a lot of bad people. Again you are sitting comfortable at home every night criticizing the people that have the balls to do something while you sit and do nothing. So keep on sucking on the liberty and the freedom that other people have provided for you. enjoy it
No the military doesn't choose to go to war. Again D5 get a clue. It's the politicians that you vote in, (or maybe you don't vote) are the one to send these young men and woman to war. They don't choose to go to war. Nobody in their right mind chooses to go to war. No is worshiping the soldiers there just saying thank you to them for doing a job that somebody like you doesn't have the balls to do
When someone says "no one like Deloitte" @D5 comes through with the perfect reason.
And that's why America is fucked. Worship the guns, cowboys and the military.
No is saying they can't handle it. When was that said? They can handle it. And that's why we have The most professional army in the world What you can't handle is when someone says thank you by giving them an upgraded seat.
@MC1 - not transatlantic, but long enough for him to have a meal on the plane. @others with positivity - appreciate the support for the troops @others with negativity - hugs your way for taking a min and responding to the post. All you did was reply.. all they (troops) did was serve without running water (@D4 thank you again for serving our country) and protect your ass while you sit at the liberty of your house and jerk off..
The world needs more acts like OP's
OP- you did a good thing and I would have done the same. D5- I have no idea how you can compare our jobs in consulting to their jobs. I doubt most of us would last a day in the military. I am grateful that someone chooses to do that work. If they ever go back to the draft D5-I hope your number gets called up. I thin you would have a very different perspective.
