Spa day and a hotel for a night of sleep😊. When we open up again.

likehelpful

With the spa day some money to spend on products to bring that experience home is what I enjoy

smart

$495 dollars in cold hard cash and a nice $5 dollar mother's day card to put it in.

If not, jewelry is always a winner. I've never known woman who didn't like a nice set of earrings and necklace.

I’m not really sure what I’d do with cash from my husband since we have a shared account that we contribute to equally. I don’t really need an allowance. I’d much prefer the coupons for things done around the house.

How about another baby?

likefunnysmarthelpful

Lol

Take the baby for the day and let her rest/do her own thing

like

It would be a good idea under other circumstances. Unless they live in a mansion and she is not breastfeeding definitely not ideal during Covid but great idea otherwise ( am a mom and hope my husband is asking around for help too lol) hahahahaha

Order in a nice brunch for her, get flowers and then allow her an afternoon of complete freedom from child care. Let her take a bath, watch her favorite TV show in bed, take a nap, however she wants to use the time while you take care of the little one. And since it’s her first Mother’s Day, maybe a nice piece of jewelry with the baby’s birthstone? Would be more sentimental than another gift you can get her for any other holiday. You got this, OP!

like

I’m not a mom but given there’s no light at the end of this tunnel I think I’d appreciate a “now” gift to brighten the mood - Farmgirl flowers are beautiful, Knack Boxes has beautifully curated gift boxes, buying at home spa items and take baby for afternoon, takeout from her fav place...Id be a little sad for an IOU gift with no clear date to use and she may feel overwhelmed now

like

I agree, if you want to give her a spa day or something do it for her at home. Set up a bubble bath with candles and relaxing music and give her some alone time. Make her dinner. Take care of all her household chores for a day and let her relax. I always appreciate gestures more than tangible things

For my first Mother’s Day, all I wanted was a night alone in a hotel so I could get 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

like

Does she have any passion? What brings her joy? What are some issues that she has that can be solved with a service or a gadget? What are gifts she has particularly appreciated?

like

This, for real. OP, what does your wife like? What does she do in her spare time? Only you can answer these questions.

It really depends what she likes. Personally it means more to me if there’s thought behind it rather than something that showed up on the Tiffany’s home page. My husband is planning some series of surprise stay home activities. Amazon packages have been arriving that I wasn’t allowed to open. I have no idea what the plan is but as a rule, I don’t do anything house/child/cooking/planning-related on Mother’s Day or my birthday.

Roomba. Changed my life.

Seems like she’s in the same boat as me. I’d love the gift of spontaneity for an evening when I don’t need to plan around the baby and have a drink, or two. I actually liked the idea of a child free spa getaway for a night when all of this gets over.

like

Lol OP, I am looking for the same advice

experiences not things (an*l)

Jewelry, nice pair of shoes, Apple Watch or regular watch. Has she mentioned anything that she’s interested in but she thought was a little expensive? Does she have any hobbies that she’d like something for? Materials, tools, ingredients, equipment? A nice camera, etc? Good luck!

A Fitbit would be an excellent gift. It only costs like $300, I think. And with the other $200 some earrings or bracelets.

Moissanite. Same sparkle. Less cost.
I can tell the difference, only because I've researched it intently, but most can't.

Farm girl flowers, takeout from a Michelin-grade restaurant, and all the supplies for a bubble bath (if she likes them). With young kids, the best gift can be adult and alone time

At home spa day sounds like a winner - a luxurious face mask (Lancôme has a great one), cozy robe, aromatherapy candle, champagne if she's a fan. Could also have a personal video message sent to her by a fave celeb or athlete (cameo.com).

I have been using this emoji 🙏 and saying to so many colleagues and clients “I’ll pray for you” with such warm and genuine receipt that I think sometimes God uses hopelessness to open people’s hearts to Him. I’ve spoken about my faith to work people more than I ever have in my 20 year career. In such a dark time, what a light prayer can be for our coworkers and clients.

I'm interested in moving into a leadership role focusing on engagement strategies. But don't know where to start, or what I'd be worth in the private sector in London.

I've been offered £150K+ by recruiters on LI.

PLEASE ADVISE....

A single mom that works in the medical field has an infant and she feared she will transmit COVID-19 to the infant by continuing to go to work. She was also worried leaving her infant to a babysitter will expose the infant to the virus. So she had to temporarily quit work to take care of the infant. She was denied unemployment because she wasn’t technically laid off. She’s struggling with her finances. Is there anything she can do to get assistant from the government?

i moved recently and incurred about 10K in CC debt (~25% APR) and about 36K left of my student debt (8% APR). I can probably pay between $1000-$1500 a month towards debt with my current budget. my parents recently downsized are gifting me $40K to pay off my student loan, which my mum co-signed. would it be appropriate to ask her if i can use it to pay off CC debt and continue paying the student loan (and pay it off on my own by fall)? should i just bite the bullet and pay the interest?
