Female fish- gender pay inequality? Thoughts?

As a fellow female advisor, and a decent looking one at that, there is no such thing. Don’t play this gender card and you’ll be respected. If anything we are privileged. I 100% can say I have no issues getting a meeting simply because I am a female. My male counterparts can’t say the same. Perform well and the gender pay inequality is not a thing. If you’re that good you can fight for whatever pay you want, male OR female

I agree with FA 1. Do your best. Be authentic and sincere. There is no limit to how well you can do. You set that number.

FA1 here, let me explain further my point of view since I’ve offended some of you here. Women will always justify their lack of success based on the fact that they’re women. It happens all the time and it’s pathetic. DO YOUR JOB and PERFORM and there is no wage gap! And yes I did make mention that I’m decent looking because I could easily use that to my advantage and wear short skirts and play up my looks but I don’t. I work harder than everyone else and I take meetings on weekends and I answer phone calls at night. I listen to my clients and I ask for referrals. Did you even read that dumb article which was posted in this thread? It says there’s a pay gap bc women prefer work/life balance over their careers for the most part. Do you really expect to make as much as your male colleague when he’s put in 10+ years and you took 5 years off to raise a family?! You can’t be serious. Any successful woman didn’t get there by playing the gender card... I can PROMISE you that.

like

I’m not a dude, I just work hard and I don’t blame my gender for the gap between where I am and where I want to be. This exact dialogue is why women aren’t as respected in corporate America, because of this ignorant whining. Focus on building your pipeline and on your clients and you’ll get somewhere. There is no hostility, it’s called honesty and not being overly sensitive

like

From my understanding most peeps on here aren’t salaried and it pay for play if you will. Meaning gender doesn’t play a role only production

like

Of course there’s a gap. I’ll make close to $220k this year and I want to make $1MM a year. But that “gap” is not because I’m a female. I’m honestly concerned you’re not getting it...

like

I have a great life actually. I have zero financial stress and I do what I want. I can take a month off and go to Europe if I want like my colleague who makes $1MM+ a year right now. I LOVE what I do. We were on our client’s yacht last week in Cabo... technically “working.” Not sure what you’re thinking but life’s pretty good

like

Please explain to me how in an industry that pays based on production women get paid less because they’re women

like

I think you should take into consideration the decisions that women and men make—education, years of experience and hours worked or maternity leave/years out of the workforce—that influence earnings. I have girlfriends who want these high paying management jobs but won’t even apply because they’re women and they really believe they won’t get the role because of that....which is absolutely ridiculous. Men are hardwired to be providers, so they put their careers first, often ahead of their personal lives to get ahead. Ambitious people, male or female, are paid well and according to their quality and tenure of work. Especially in this line of work, your pay is directly correlated to your production and nothing else.

FA1 you make good points but pay inequality IS an issue at many firms so women can’t turn a blind eye. One would think that doing a good job is all that’s required but sadly that’s not always the case. And, why the mention of how good looking you are, aside from demonstrating how humble you are? 🙄

uplifting

At my firm we get 40% net plus bonuses. The bonus structure is the same wether you are male or female. Our adviser with the highest aum is female. I fail to see where they are at a disadvantage.

like

FA3 Ok I read the article.... sounds like the pay gap is self inflicted.... I've been in the field for twenty years... always out earned my male coworkers... never had to resort to sleazy high pressured sales to do it.... but I do work hard and efficiently

like

The hostility directed towards women in this thread is indicative of the issues women in the workplace face. FA1, you come across like a guy pretending to be a woman.

So for all your hard work you acknowledge there is a gap from where you are and where you want to be?

I don’t like whiny women any more than you do, but to say that NO inequality exists is strange coming from a good looking female. Just sayin’.

And when you make your million, having no life outside of work, think you’ll be happy?

⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️ Thank you!!!!
