Fiancé and I are apartment hunting in Manhattan. Would you pay higher rent for an extra half bathroom (ie just toilet, no shower) in a 1BR apartment? How much more would you pay per month approx?
For context, we are both in consulting, and expect family to visit every now and then.

I personally don't find 0.5BAs get used that often? The (admittedly larger) premium for space like a larger living room or den/home office seems more worth it than a 0.5BA, especially in the age of COVID-19.

I wouldn’t pay for anything extra right now

I have a one bed, 1.5 bath and really appreciate the extra .5 bath. Is it a necessity? No, but it’s a nice bonus. That said, wouldn’t pay much extra for it.

Thanks for all the inputs folks. Just agreed to sign after negotiating a ~19% discount 🤩
After looking around we realized this apartment was only slightly pricier than other 1/1 places that were also 10-15% smaller.

Unless you are really full of shit, you won't need the half pooper pot.

I am not paying for anything extra.

I was looking for a bigger apartment until I saw the the prices are not going down so I decided in the end to renew my lease.

The LL has increased my rent by only $50 over a period 24 months. I had no brokerage fee.

Have you actually put in some offers? I know people who are getting 15-20% less than listed prices in NYC. Some landlords say F off some are willing... Nows the time to get deals

Thanks for this VP1, followed your advice and negotiated pretty hard 😊

We just moved from 1 toilet to 2 because we are expecting children. Before that we spent 15 years as a 1 toilet household. Most of our family prefers to get a hotel down the street so it hasn’t bothered us too much.

Hello Fb! I'm 30 yrs old. I'm trying to figure out and plan my life to set myself up for success in the future. I wish I had known things like enrolling in a high deductible health plan at 24 when I started work so that I could enroll in a HSA for the triple tax savings or the importance of maxing out a Roth IRA or maxing out a 401K and not just to the employer match. What are some things you wish you had known earlier or by age 30? In some ways, I feel like I'm late in the game. See more 👇🏻

Hey all, I am young and looking for advice. I have 100 shares of Lucid Motors, but I am now in the red and fear it could get much worse or even go to 0.

Should I sell the shares, buy a LEAP and move the money elsewhere? This way if the stock does skyrocket I can buy back 100 shares at a cheap price? Plus LEAPS keep a lot of value based solely off the fact that there’s a lot of time left and this is a speculative stock, right?

When investing in stocks, how do you strategize where to put your money? For example, I like to put $2000 a month in the stock market. My problem is I buy 2 shares here, 3 shares there. And I’ve ended up owing a bit of everything. Ideally I want to build up to have 100 shares of a stock so I can start selling covered calls. But I feel like it’s going to take forever. Especially if I keep getting into new stocks.

My fiancé wants a prenup separating all financials until we have kids. I’m hurt by this. He owns a home and has no debt, a great job. I live with him and have student loan debt (under 25k left) and a great job too. He feels his wealth should go to his parents if we don’t have kids, not me. I am financially comfortable on my own but my feelings are hurt and feel uncomfortable expressing this to close friends and family. Any thoughts or perspectives would be helpful.

Hey everyone! I’m looking for 2 roommates to start apartment hunting with for a late October move in (might be flexible on LATER dates if I find really cool people!). I’m mainly looking at 3 bedroom units in a luxury building that has a gym for around 3500. Flexible on location too as long as it fits the criteria above but I see some nice ones in Brooklyn and some in lower Manhattan. About me, I’m 28, male, East Asian and a really laid back, open minded person originally from Hawaii, hmu!
