I just dug through some “how many hours do you actually work now” posts and was shocked to find a lot of people answering OVER 40 hrs a week. Why are so many people overworking? Are you all OK? I was expecting to see more under 40/week than over.

I started a new job as an “office manager” at the end of January. The duties seem to align more with those of an EA, and I’m ok with that. Except my boss is a control freak. He scolds me over every little thing, how I load the dishwasher, maybe I didn’t push my chair in. Last week he told me I needed to work on my appearance. I was shocked. I bought all new clothes from Ann Taylor that are perfectly acceptable for business casual. He hates me. Move on ASAP or try to stick it out ?

I'm drowning in one-off business logic or planning requests ever since the last shuffle of devs. I'm the most senior, and def know the most, but on a team where our devs wear many hats, it means that I don't get to code nearly as much as I want to.

I also feel like these one-off requests do nothing for my career, as they're not seen as valuable to anyone other than the requesters.
