I had a hard time getting in to see a doctor within my network, as the wait time was about 3 months. So I decided to use ADHD Online. It has a simple assessment that you take (takes about 1 hour). The assessment is great, you answer the questions on the form. Then they give you a response within a few days (mine was within 24 hours). Once you have your diagnosis, you can take that to any doctor or you can use one of theirs via telehealth. You make an appt, meet with the doctor and your meds are sent to your pharmacy. I am also on adderrall and they prescribe it with no issues.
I actually have a doctor you can go to if you’d like her information. She use’s telemedicine. She requires you to go to the doctor for a physical and will need to go an assessment, but she’s wonderful. I found her on ADHD online but she then moved from that platform.
I’m sorry I know how hard it is to find a doctor that will listen to you and try to address comorbidities before ADHD.
What health insurance do you have and what city are you in? This group could be a great resource to find another PCP that will be more receptive to treating you for ADHD.
I am in Chicago with Aetna with a great doctor. Anyone can DM if you want more info.

One high blood pressure reading seems a bit extreme to refer to a cardiologist (coming from someone with high BP since my late 20s and only referred to a cardiologist when I was having strange symptoms when pregnant in my 30s). Perhaps consider talking that through with your PCP and/ identifying another if they are insistent.
I think it's partially that she checked it again and it didn't come down significantly from the top of the appt (even though I explained to her I was having particularly stressful day in general). She doctor 3 yrs ago before she switched to concierge, and I'd had a similar reading on my last visit with her, so guess that's the last thing she saw. Every other Dr. Apt/office visit since has been in a normal range (and there have been several given all the COVID testing here in NYC). I switched back to her because I liked her, but she seems suspicious of my treatment overall and definitely alarmed me with the order to see a cardio. My mom has been a cardiology RN my whole life and and thinks it's a bit of an extreme reaction, too. PCP is a DO and prides herself on treating the whole person so maybe that's part of it? +'s and -'s. Unfortunately I'm locked into the concierge program for a bit longer but may vet new PCPs depending on how things play out over the next couple of months. I know my high blood pressure is not going to improve if I lose my job because I can't reign in my ADHD!
Adderall and welbutrin? That is really interesting. My doctor actually said my anxiety had to be under control before they could put me on adderall because adderall can often make your anxiety worse.
Yeah, I actually have experienced a reduction of anxiety on Adderall. Probably because I'm not so overstimulated and because I'm able to focus I'm not so disorganized and dealing with so much fallout from my symptoms. The Wellbutrin was prescribed to further reduce anxiety but also because it seems to help increase focused in some people as well.
For Adderall, my prescriber noted that a good way to judge if you've hit your upper limit on your dosage is if you feel jittery or uncharacteristically anxious. Everyone's body is different though. I've been on the wellbutrin a couple of months now and while I feel fine most of the time, I've noticed that when I do experience something that is stressful I'm feeling it more acutely and it feel like it's taking longer come back down to baseline so we're tapering back off and reassessing.
Update: Went to the cardiologist ($1800 later, yay high deductible 🙃) and while my heart rate and BP were elevated again, it seem like white coat syndrome and general stress.
Cardio wasn't terribly worried about my meds, said everything looks super healthy. Monitoring BP at home; diastolic runs a little high (low 80s) but systolic is usually 98-115, so basically some slight lifestyle adjustments is the recommendation. Going to do a stress test to be super sure everything looks fine, then we can go back to my PCP with all the blessings.
The general consensus from mom (career CV RN), sister (NP), cardiologist, and the NP who has been seeing me for the ADHD is that PCP was being alarmist. If she still doesn't want to help then it's got to be a different issue and I'll be scoping out a new PCP. In the meantime, I've had to ration my Adderall to avoid a complete gap in treatment and things have gotten crazier at work so wish me luck.
Also thank you for all of the support here and via DMs. This community has been so amazing and I'm so glad it exists ❤️
This has never happened to me but what I would say is that stressing about it will just cause your blood pressure to continue to go up. I would just see the cardiologist and see what they say. Hpefully there is something they can put you on that will help.
