A month into late stage, pre-IPO tech. It’s been amazing.

Yep!

Jelly y’all, I want to make the leap but the freaking raises/bonuses keep gettin announced.

like

Can definitely find $230-250k. Go get it!

like

I think you can get that now. I just got $200 total comp as a class of 2018. You’ve got two years on me and companies don’t really care you took a year back (unless you have a specific practice and will do that work specifically in house)

like

Thanks for the insight! Ugh now I have to actually update my resume/deal sheet.

Same! Putting notice in in Feb. Got $285k total comp.

like

Congrats! How many years out?

Same! Giving notice when the bonus hits the account next week 🙂

like

$250k is great! Good luck!

Why would in-house counsel know about you taking a cut? No one knows (or asks) what year you’re paid at the firm. They will treat you like your class year based on when you graduated.

like

With the salary wage going on...naw ill stick it out for a few more years

Depends on your class year!

I’ll be retiring from a public school system in the next 3-5 years. My husband, a Navy vet, and I are tossing around the idea of then relocating to a country that has a military base nearby. We’d both be interested in at least part-time gigs: me as a teacher preferably on base and he’s open to jobs on or off base. Does anyone know any educators currently doing that or planning to??

What is a fair salary range for a Senior Solutions Architect in Austin?

I have a boss from hell. She’s the GM of my hotel and she is a mean girl that never grew out of highschool. She loves gossip. She will trash talk her employees with other employees and once her toxic garbage starts to leak amongst us peons she will send a group text telling us all to stop spreading rumors and to stop being bullies like she isn’t the mean kid with a magnifying glass torturing ants for no reason. I want to stand up but I’ve seen her retaliate on people who have tried to. Help.

Thinking of switching employers. Do you think bigger retail stores (the ones that have several locations) are easier or harder to work at than little hole-in-the-wall grocery stores (which is all I've ever done)? It seems like the larger chain stores would have more downtime, but I'm wondering if anyone could give some input.

Corp/securities associate and lateraled to a 40-50 attorney firm earlier this year. I’m a non traditional candidate and considered a 3rd or 4th year and make $200k base. Waiting on raise/bonus info but can’t help but wonder if I could be making $100k more at a larger firm and working similar hours. I put a premium on the people I work with and have gotten a good rhythm here as well as built up a good rep so far. For reference I have billed avg. 180-200 hrs a month. Any insights?

Is it okay that I’ve been a slow junior as we’re hours away from closing? I’m trying to be proactive and available to cross things off the list but I’m SLOW: takes me long enough that they do it themselves (even though this wasn’t an issue earlier in the deal) and even on quick tasks or emails, they respond to it before I can click send. There’s also so much about closing that I don’t understand and I feel like I’m bothering the higher-ups on the team whenever I ask. *end anxiety post*

So, I'm happy at my current job and have been there about 18 months. Our pay is probably 15% below market (AmLaw 100) but so are our billable requirements. An interview for another firm kind of fell into my lap, and I'm debating whether to take it just for the sake of seeing what market really is. Is there something shady about interviewing somewhere you're not totally committed to accepting an offer from?
