I run all my spending through AMEX so I have the data points. Investments are best to not follow. - I’m not a day-trader, but buy for long term.

like

Exactly. The whole “pay cash for things” crowd is ignorant of the insight from data. I can trend, drill, and analyze my (and the wife’s) spending using Amex. Make decisions to affect my spending.

Hi 🐟 fam. What apps do you use to track your investments? Eg yahoo finance (there’s gotta be a better app out there) both paid and unpaid are cool. For tracking S&P and individual shares. Bonus if I can enter my holdings!

Is it ethical for an old job to reach out to you because they’re being audited and want specifics on a case that’s 2 years old? I left this job awhile ago and they can’t find something I did two years ago so now they want to know where it is. I don’t even remember this case since it was so long ago.

Do you lose unemployment benefits after you receive a job offer but before you start? I know it may vary by state, but haven't found anything specific (MA).

They ask if you have an offer, and I know looking for a job is a requirement to receive benefits, so wondering if saying I have an offer and no longer looking would disqualify me.

I need some strategies! When I introduce a text I use choral reading and whisper reading to guarantee students actually read the text. After an initial read, we go back and annotate to understand the text better. However, I feel like I do all the work. The class doesn’t seem to be thinking about the text. There is a lot of yawning. It’s like they are just waiting to write down what I tell them to. How do I get kids to think about what they are reading? How do I get them to do the work?

My boyfriend has given soo many red flags over the past year but we’ve been trying to make it work. Heated arguments consistently every other week. We disagree on a lot of “expectations” in a relationship. He can be controlling and quick to get angry, and I just can’t take this emotionally anymore (esp when he blames me for making him angry). Tips on getting through the break up convo when you know it’s the right thing to do but you love them & it hurts like hell to end things?

I am purchasing a home and my boyfriend wants in on the deal as a co-owner. It is only me on the mortgage. We are planning on writing up a co-ownership agreement with a 60%/40% split and yes he will be paying 40% of the mortgage, down payment, and property taxes etc. He wants to be on the title as a tenant in common to reflect that %. Is that fair? I just want to make sure I’m protected but I also understand that if he’s paying all this money, he wants some security as well

Is anyone familiar with filial responsibility laws? I’ve seen a couple posts lately with comments saying that people should not use a Roth 401k. Does the logic below capture the spirit of that concept?
1. Use trad. 401k to reduce taxable income now. Convert to trad. IRA once retired, then convert gradually to Roth IRA (ladder, SEPP, etc.) at lowest marginal tax rate
2. Use Roth IRA (and/or backdoor Roth) to take advantage of tax free growth and ability to withdraw principal early without penalty
