Financial advisors worth it? Price tag for me is .8% annually of total assets. I don’t have the time or wherewithal to track things myself honestly

Honestly put your money in the QQQ or SPY index. You’ll outpace advisors on gains. Now if you need trusts, retirement planning or something involving estates, an advisor is worth it but find one that is a fiduciary

Track record means nothing as future results are non guaranteed. Value will be in what they can do outside investment management, IE tax strategy, planning, banking, alts, ect...

ask them how they track vs sp500

Why?

Most cases not worth it but ask for track record

Operations manager 1 - Explain your process of how you developed your plan and how do you allocate your investment dollars?

Have you been fully invested through this downturn? If you have kids are you on the right state's 529? What is your Sortino ratio? How correlated are your holdings? Do you have access to alternative investments? Are your investing and savings tied to the expected need dates?

If you can answer these basic questions and understand your deltas to each benchmark you don't need an advisor. If you can't you're deluding yourself that you are a pro investor.

If you are under 50, you can get good returns by simply investing in the S&P as someone suggested. You'll over pay taxes a bit. If you donate you won't have a DAF that can save you hundreds of thousands in taxes for example. You'll likely have your 529 in your own state's fund.

These aren't horrible choices, and will allow you to not look like an idiot at the neighborhood BBQ. But they aren't optimal.

The reality is; if someone is on this app, they are already different from the average person and thus a bad indicator for the average person.

Most people have no fucking clue how to do anything investment wise. Will people overreact? Yes. Will people try to time the market ? Yes? Do people understand different tax advantages? No. Changing jobs? Are you rolling over? Should you choose Roth or Trad?

I could go on and on. The average person doesn’t have the time nor the ability and sometimes the desire to keep up with another chore. While, yes, technically, every single person has the ability to learn and do literally everything themselves. But they won’t. The same way people don’t do all the other things in life they could do themselves and don’t.

So my advice to meet with a few different advisors and pick one. Ask them for their fees. And also what alt services they offer.

Track record means almost nothing these days as most advisors are going into some sort of AI algo that picks your funds. With regulation BI so many advisors are doing this. They ask you some questions, your answers determine the funds.

Thanks. Will do. Talking with someone from Personal Capital if anyone has heard of them and has thoughts.

Their pitch is pretty good and they have decent stats to back it up. But you should really drill into how it’s performed the last three years.

But, their management fee is far too high for their process. You could probably replicate it yourself without too much effort.

Not worth it. If you don’t have time to be an active investor stick to indexes and broad-market funds.
