Whenever I get an ACD or up to laugh at a comment or post on Fishbowl I feel like I’ve beaten the system.
Hi guys, what's the variable component % of CTC in TCS for senior consultant and principle consultant?
The check accounting method box on the TR, is that to say if the taxpayer is cash or accrual basis for book purposes or tax purposes ?
Super last minute but any chance any of you have some good suggestions for questions to ask a candidate in an interview for a legal ops manager position? We’re an extremely understaffed and overworked team consisting of a GC, three additional attorneys, and a shared admin at a fintech that grew at an insane pace over the past couple of years. Thank you!!
California auditors, do you get overtime pay? I recently moved to CA and got an offer as an auditor. I was surprised they classified me as a non-exempt with overtime eligible. This seems amazing for someone coming from another public accounting firm working crazy hours. Is this a standard in CA?
I’m a junior corporate associate that basically drafts/edits agreements all day. I don’t hate my job, but I don’t think it’s very engaging. Has anyone been here before? Is this just part of being a corporate lawyer? Does it get better with seniority?
How far from downtown Toronto are you willing to move to be in a forever single family home?
Any recommendations for you pick farms?
Anyone here who has relocated to Goldman Sachs in SLC can help me in answering some questions related to their relocation allowance? Thanks,
Hi, I’m a new grad who just started a job late July that pays 74k base. I saw some posts about how much I should make to live in the city ok and I’d like to ask for tips on budgeting/living within your means!
About me: I’m living w/family until end of Aug and planning to move to Nob Hill in Sept. I found a housemate & a 2bd apartment and will be paying ~1500/month for rent. I don’t have a car or student debt and plan on cooking meals on weekdays & go out on weekends.
Any input is appreciated!
Will AR glasses create a new world of opportunity for application developers in the same way that mobile did when the iPhone came out? If so, how can we prepare for this shift?
Someone once wrote of William Bligh, "God knows I never had any malice in my heart until I met this detestable brute."
I feel similarly about a music teacher at a different school in my district, who is not an administrator, but has decided to make himself one.
His particular talent is beating around the bush for hours without ever quite revealing what he wants you to do.
I have no idea how his students deal with it.
Did anyone listened into interim budget, curious to know if there is some announcements for NRIs?
Getting married at the end of the year and need to lose significant weight or at least look more toned. I’ve realized I don’t have the discipline or knowledge to do it on my own and need some help (at least to get me started). I’m willing to spend money on a nutritionist, in-person trainer, online trainer or both - whichever will be most helpful. Any suggestions on where to start? Do I just google local nutritionist/trainers? I’m concerned I won’t know if they’re legit or not. TIA
Having some very difficult conversations in my marriage right now. Has been very hard to work between fighting, not sleeping, and the general emotional wreckage. Haven’t settled on divorce yet. Do I tell partners I am close with, especially if I have deliverables? If yes, how?
Any recommendations for good ski destinations in the US? Planning to go with my family in December. We never skied before! Many thanks in advance.
I am the new owner of an LLC, we started last year and claimed a section 179 deduction for my business vehicle. Can I purchase another vehicle this year and do the same ?

Holland Hart EC/VC Denver? Anyone know how their office/practice group is? Also are people happy at Holland Hart or are people iffy about the black box compensation?
Does your ex owe you closure if they break up with you? Just want to see a consensus on this.
Is Orrick’s WLB actually as good as everyone says? What’s a usual day of hours for a transactional attorney?
How much caffeine did you consume today to get you competent to practice law? I'll go first 700 mgs. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
Recommendations for firms to look into in South FL? I'm in Ft. Lauderdale but am open to Boca or Miami. I'm a first year associate in ID (coverage issues) but really would prefer transactional work. More importantly though, I'm looking for companies who pay relatively well (doesn't necessarily have to be market), are open to remote/hybrid work, aren't sweatshops. I'd settle for insurance work if theres good WLB & $$$ lol
First year here who is coming up on one year at the firm next week. It hit me like a truck when I realized I’ve spent 6 out of those months at home, and how much learning I’ve missed out on. I’m nowhere at the skill level of the first (now second) year associate who helped mentor me. How are firms going to make up for lost time and training?
Current Goodwin associates, how bad/good is it?
I'm quitting my job this week because I'm not getting quality work. How would you go about telling your practice group partners this without burning bridges?
Why do firms care about diversity and inclusion from a business / marketing perspective? Aside from (1) keeping in line with public/market tenor, (2) recruiting summers, and (3) ticking off the D&I requirements of certain clients vis a vis their service providers, is there anything else I'm missing?
Any feedback on recruiter Lenny Greenblatt?
Firm is refusing to promote me to equity partnership after 10 months. I've worked on three deals this year and I feel pretty comfortable running a deal by myself despite having only been sworn in last week. Should I lateral?
PSA: Two years ago I had a nervous break down on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. An intense deal I was leading closed and I felt relief but I couldn't stop crying. I went under my desk and cried for 4 hours until I passed out. Partner called me on Thanksgiving about post-closing matters and I just answered and then hung up. That was when I sought professional help and started to make real boundaries. That break has made all of the difference.
Okay, so... In-house positions, job postings and salary information: How do you know what the compensation is for postings? Am I missing something? Is there some type of database with this information or is it a crapshoot? Glassdoor isn’t accurate from my experience.
Any advice on giving notice to a firm/requesting an exit interview where you had a terrible experience? I’m moving on to a better firm, but suffered immensely from the gas lighting, lies, verbal abuse, sexism, etc. that I experienced during my time here and want some sort of accountability for the way I’ve been treated.
Anyone transferred to an international office of your firm? Particularly those in countries that aren’t English speaking. My firm has offices in other countries and i might be interested eventually on changing offices. Thanks!
FYI - Goodwin told us that we are being called back to the office September 13 with the expectation that we work at least 3 days a week in the office through the end of 2021.
Does anyone here truly feel like they have decent work life balance? Is that just a thing of the past? Thinking about jumping ship but don’t even know where to jump to... I just know that this much stress and anxiety is going to run me into the ground FAST
Any associates care to share how they have approached partners to discuss feeling stagnant? I want to be a trial lawyer (and have made that clear) but opportunities and training just never materialize. Is that unfortunately just the nature of big law and you have to get lucky?
Can people please let me know what 7th years (particular non-equity partners) are making as annual base compensation at AmLaw 100-200?
