Finding myself in a bit of a mental health crisis between covid, work and personal life. Does anyone have tips for the best way to go about finding a psychologist/psychiatrist? I moved a few years ago and stupidly never got around to finding a new doctor here. In Manhattan if anyone has personal recommendations. TIA.

I would suggest doing a bit of research into the different philosophies of therapy, then looking for a therapist who fits that style (e.g CBT/talk therapy/gestalt/etc.). If you don’t know what kind of therapy most aligns with your needs then look for practices who accept your insurance and go for a trial session or two to get the flavor. Best of luck, mental health is so important!!

Psychology Today has a directory online where you can sort by location and read personal statements from therapists about their approach to therapy, specialties, etc.

I tried betterhelp app last year for a bit and it helped. You can find promo codes online for a free trial I believe. Good for you for seeking help! Hang in there, MANY of us are in the same 🚣‍♀️, including me. This too shall pass.

My primary doctor was able to refer me to one. My naturopath also had recommendations!

Mine gave me some supplements to support mood and sleep, which have helped a ton. She also focuses on stress amongst professional women and has provided coping strategies. When it came to therapy, she had recommendations for local psychologists who provide counselling, as that’s outside her area (and I appreciate someone knowing what is/isn’t their focus).

How do you keep all of your notes-to-self organized? Not actual work product or drafts, but the kinds of things you jot down in meetings or as you’re working (e.g., “client prefers DE choice of law over NY” or “x agreement is best example of negotiated MSA”). I’m using OneNote, but I’m curious how others do it.

Bonus points if you have ADHD and you use this type of thing as a lifeline 🙃

Neither my husband nor I are good with change and when my husband and I went for the ultrasound he nervously asked "she's too sick to eat anything other than her vitamins and water, is it ok for her and the baby to go without?" Our doctor just smiled and replied "don't worry, baby takes" I don't know why but that was so funny to us. It’s hard to understand COVID-19 rates of infection where I’m at or was, and the contracts was not inline with corporate ideals at least not in the IT sector. Their ideals was radical and the spread of harmful information on past events to prevent ethnicities to get vaccinated was alarming. It has highest infection rate in private sector. Don’t know death rates was strictly remote and put on non-sanctioned project NDA wasn’t signed and never knew until it came down the grapevine.

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞

Got covid from the UK , double vaxxed , and symptoms are wildly atrocious. Everyday I have different issues. I went from no fever to 102.4 in a couple of minutes. Blood oxygen dropped dangerously low and bounced back in a few minutes. Chills , cold sweats. My newest one is that my legs are so achey and sore it feels like they were beaten with a bat , just nonstop pain and can’t sleep. Anyone else experience these? Pretty sure I’d be hospitalized at a minimum without the vax
