My dining room overlooks lake Washington and it's the most romantic setting
I sometimes rent it out for $5k a night. Helps cover part of the mortgage
A ways outside Seattle (2.5h drive north) so probably not what OP is looking for, but I can’t miss an opportunity to recommend The Willows Inn on Lummi Island. Top 10 best food experiences of my life (maybe top 5). Not overly fancy vibes but impeccable food & service (tasting menu with only one seating per night). Definitely special occasion-worthy.
Yikes good call. I’d heard about it but thought I’d read that they had changed up their chef/HR/etc since then. Looks like I was wrong & the chef is still there, I must’ve mixed it up with the chef change up at Canlis (notably, Canlis’s change was *not* related to a toxic or abusive environment).
Wtf is oriental
Oriental is pretty racist. And offensive. I’d stop using it asap. Seriously though. #concernedasianperson
For sushi, try Sushu Kashiba! Very high quality and amazing sushi and omakase. For fine dining, I would recommend Copine and Altura. Sawyer is an amazing restaurant as well (actually my favorite in Seattle), but they are unfortunately closing for good on Sunday.
Kashibai is soooo good
Copine, Il Nido, San Fermo
+1 on Il Nido
So hard to identify "fine dining" in Seattle. Second Copine. A few other ideas:
Tasting menu at Lark
Bateau
Mkt
Harvest Vine
I haven't been there for years. Sorry to hear it has declined.
Musang is a great place if you love Filipino food and great drinks!!!
Second Musang!
Kamonegi, Cook Weaver, How to Cook a Wolf, Archipelago
Cook Weaver only if you like greasy food 🤔
It's almost impossible to get a reservation, but I had a great experience at Taneda. The food was really good but the entire experience was amazing.
I am not fond of Canlis as I believe they are a bit more pretentious and expect the same from their guests (jacket preferred for men), and the food was underwhelming, but it does have a beautiful dining room and view.
Rising Star
Hot take, I’m a fan of Canlis’ dress code. Don’t get me wrong I like seattles embrace of comfy casual clothing but sometimes it’s nice to just be somewhere that has you dress up. Reminds me of nyc where going out, how you dress is important. A jacket is pretty casual in most other cities
Sawyer in Ballard has been my favorite “fancy” place. I don’t normally like fine dining due to tiny portions but theirs are decently sized and the food is awesome
I heard they're closing in protest of the student loan forgiveness. 🙃
Try Ascend
That place is weak asf - service was slow and food was mediocre. You only go for the clout
I second Copine. Also the Herb Farm in Woodinville.
Paju and aerlume. Wont break the bank either.
Homer is awesome (N Beacon Hill)
Violet in cap hill
Loved Copine too
Just went to serafina for the first time and it was divine. Spinasse in cap hill is really delicious too, as well as Flint Creek.
All the restaurants from Sea Creatures group
Rising Star
Just went to Canlis and it lived up to the hype. One of the few overall true finding experiences. It’s PNW but chef is Asian American so the dishes have Asian influences
Altura is amazing, and I'm super loyal because we walked in there in sweats without a reservation and they VERY politely explained what type of restaurant it was without making us feel bad. We made a reservation on the spot to celebrate a special occasion.
