Finished first year of law school. What can I do with a JD that isn’t practicing law. Always hear about how it opens many doors but haven’t been successful finding answers. What can I do with the degree besides law or something like compliance/policy?

One route is consulting. Depending on your background/focus in law school, this could include finance, tax, or privacy/cyber

Get your sphr while in school and go into HR.

You could go into VC - you’d still practice law in that you’re working on contracts but most of what you’d be doing is more around waterfalling options, running due diligence and writing terms sheets. It’s challenging to get your foot in the door but it’s a super interesting field that’s well compensated.
