Firm gives unlimited sick days because they know that in this industry no one will ever be able to actually utilize any 😑 #nosuchthingassickdays

I take sick days when I'm sick. You should too, so others don't suffer from your disease.

@pwc1 lucky you. I've had to work from home while sick because my team sucks. Someone actually cover me while I'm out? Ha. That's rich.

PwC1, don't be naive. Of course there are many teams like this. You are in the minority if you have never been on one. You are lucky and have no right to attack others who have not been as lucky.

Thanks @pwc3 - @pwc1 I've very much replaceable - I never said I wasn't. I also happen to have a really bad manager. Nothing I do is something they can't do but my manager is a "manager" and won't do work that's beneath them - or let anyone try something that's "above" them. Please recognize that people have different experiences in the firm - and it depends a lot on the team.

@P1- oh how i wish I could say you were right and I was just "lying" for attention 😂

Senior associate. My manager won't actually do anything because "Manager" but doesn't trust anyone under me to cover while I'm out. She won't leave me alone while I'm out sick but also won't let anyone who asks to help do anything.

@P1: what's your level? I kind of agree with both views here, it's more dependent on the team. My current team, even if I'm irreplaceable - let's me take my downtime. However, a team I worked on last year didn't let me have it, even though I was replaceable on that.

It's always about the kind of people you work with, and I have to give it to you on that - that PwC has mostly good & kind folks. But there are bad apples too 😑😓

I can't take PTO or sick days for the next year due to my project. That is fully on me to train or knowledge transfer to others on my team so I can feel comfortable getting away... Seems like OP is on a short-sighted team

I do but work doesnt stop so I just end up working my 12-14 hour days from home :/

What's your level PwC 2?

I will admit that our client is very needy and particular - loves me and pretty much only wants to go through me but dang it sometimes I need her to say no.

Reaction Icon Like
Arrow Icon

Sure son seems like you are the most important senior associate ever been on any project. Irreplaceable, cannot take a days vacation.

Arrow Icon

And I'm woman btw - on an all female team.

Reaction Icon Like
Arrow Icon

Yeah try taking sick days more than twice per quarter and you'll surely be on the chopping block with the layoffs next

Reaction Icon Like
Arrow Icon

I was always told only to take sick days for surgery. Otherwise you are expected to work from home, or take vacation. Anything else and you are a liability.

Reaction Icon Like
Arrow Icon

I have to agree with P1 here. F mgr here and I've taken sick days as needed with different teams at different points with PWC. I've even taken family sick days when needed and have no issues. It may be dependent on groups, but at least from my perspective, I have no issues.

Does anyone know someone who was placed on a pip who then found a way to get on medical leave so could apply to jobs while still employed? (Idea being that you greatly extend your opportunity to look for jobs while still being able to say you’re at current firm. Example: Person gets 1 month pip, gets medical leave, then is able to look for new jobs for many months rather than 1 month. If you don’t know anyone, any opinions on how this could work?

Just tested positive. Not sure if I’m actually dizzy or eyes are just blurring from too much screen time. No fever/other symptoms. I’m already feeling pressured to give up vacation, let alone take sick time. Why is consulting like this?
