Is Navy Federal not working for anyone else?
Hello! I’m new to fishbowl and wanted to make my first post. I’m currently in the process of transitioning out of the Air Force and looking for a skillbridge opportunity in project management, preferably located in Tampa, Florida. A few companies I have on my list are Accenture, Raytheon Technologies Corporation and JPMorgan Chase What are everyone’s thoughts on those companies and how military friendly they really are?

As prior enlisted I get where you are coming from but there are legitimate reasons they target the JMO demo. They have degrees and are largely transitioning directly from the military to corporate. This puts them at a disadvantage against the other candidates in the experienced hire pool. Most of us enlisted go back to school and enter through the graduate pipeline. JMOs also have events that can be targeted such as service academy fairs. It’s basically a matter of what is easiest to target.
I’m not saying the system is great or defending it. I am very frustrated with how my firm has handled veteran recruiting. I’ve also worked with people to improve it. Unfortunately everyone who was positioned to recruits veteran’s left PwC when they got tired of pushing against the immovable wall.
I did 7 years in the army, medical retirement. The other 11 years are from before and after the army
Yup. As a former enlisted I’m tired of how everyone talks about the transferable skills of the officers and never anything about all the good stuff about the former enlisted folks. I may not have gone to West Point but I am for sure brining value to the table.

Anyone tried bringing chicken in pickle juice? Hint: that’s why Chick-fil-A chicken is so tasty 😋

It could be worse, our veteran’s initiatives are 100% window dressing.
CC and BB got me here, so I feel ya on that.
TM, BB’s replacement, has been great. Not as visible without someone in CC’s role but have worked with him a bit and he’s solid. He’s a drill sergeant in the Guard. Would definitely give him benefit of the doubt.
DM me if you want his info.
If I hear another "Consulting is like war" I'm going to HR.
Vets are literally jokes at the big 4 here.
Uncle D's vet initiatives are also just window dressing.
@k1 are you in DC? Usmc here. We love to vent
Former officer with enlisted time here - instead of targeting JMOs specifically they need to target transitioning veterans with degrees.
We're missing out on a lot of sharp people because we're only looking at transitioning lieutenants and captains.
They can segment that list down into whatever components they want once someone is in the pipeline but if you are running a vet hiring initiative you want to go after everyone.
Honestly. I think we all need to do a better job supporting each other as well. Leadership traits from the military are far superior than any leadership trait from someone who entered the corporate environment straight from College.
Preach! Succession preparedness, leader intent, accountability are behaviors we don’t see often in consulting.
That’s pretty unsat treatment — I don’t see such nonsense at EY thankfully

Probably why one of our main veteran’s initiatives guy left PwC and went to EY
OP - I’d recommend getting involved in whatever initiative is bothering you and trying to make it better. They may not be aware that there is something lacking, as the initiatives are all staffed by vet volunteers trying to give back.
That's the type of environment needed to facilitate mentorship. Loving it.
