Army pants and flip flops.
Don't be the blazer guy.
Whatever you do, no blazer. Your normal attire should be fine. But if you’re worried, just wear slightly nicer pants. What did they wear when you were interviewing?
Boy.. reading these above.. I’m just old school. You’re in business not a frat house, dress appropriately. Respect those who built the floor you walk on that now employs you. Nothing wrong with a blazer and some style (yes tucked in shirt). I was all taught “dress for success” but that is waning for many. Too much of jeans and no ties at meetings when you’re talking about someone spending millions on your campaign. I love keeping it casual, to a point. Stand out, shine your shoes, there’s enough Macklemore haircuts, beards and full sleeve tattoos out there
I always over dress the first day. It all goes rapidly downhill from there. Good luck!!
No blazer. Jeans and a nice pressed shirt with nice shoes work well?
Did you not have an interview with a first impression? I feel like that part has already been done. I personally would wear a T-shirt/cardigan and nice dark denim.
What kind of agency do you work for? If it's a very creative shop, definitely go untucked. If it's a more corporate place, maybe tucked just to be safe. In any case, I'd usually err on the side of conservative on the first day.
I’m two years into my job and wear blazers with T-shirts and jeans all the time (in a Carrie brownstein way) I’m not sure I’m understanding the blazer hate here.
Depends on the city
Haha. Right. Until you get called out for dressing to nice (blazer, dress shirt, nice denim, and dress shoes) by the top client of a Fortune 500 company. They like when creatives just act their selves. No need be what your not. Now, for account people it may be a completely different story
Are you male or female? What kind of button down? (Plaid flannel? Short sleeve fitted? Oversized pinstripe dress shirt?) What kind of jeans? (Black, dark or stone washed? Skinny or baggy? Belt or no belt? High rise or low rise?) What kind of shoes with the jeans? I’m really trying to picture what jeans and a button down looks like...
Whatever you do, stay away from UNTUCKit shirts. They are so lame.
I’ve learned that it never hurts to dress more up than down. Even though the dress code is casual and everyone else wears jeans, casual shirts, untucked button downs, etc. it still goes a long way to stay looking cleaned up. There’s an unconscious impression people are left with. When I’m in a sales or pitch meeting, I’ve found that I inherently respect or deem a more subject matter expert the guy who had his shirt tucked in and wearing some Banana Republic slacks than the guy who wore jeans beside him. It’s nice to “blend in” but I always think it’s best to always try to put your best foot forward, in every way you can. (Just exercise common sense like not going to the opposite extreme of wearing a suit or tie, etc)
Wasn’t too hot on the Blazer option either.... main thing I’m grappling with is tucked vs untucked into the jeans... first impressions are lasting impressions 😁
Tucked into jeans never going look stuffy.
No blazer mate, leave that for the finance folks 😀.
Dress how you normally dressed at your last agency but spice it up a bit for the first week, always worth looking sharp for the first week.
Good luck mate!

Set the standard on day one. Untucked.
If you go the blazer, please don't do the pocket square.
