With such a lean team, you're likely expected to perform all the duties from Analyst to Manager, i.e., doing driving leading and managing risks. Expect to ramp up and deliver quickly.

D4- that is such fantastic advice. OP, D4 is likely right. I consider that advice one of the many unspoken Deloitte norms.

I guess it is going to be a struggle for me initially. I'll have to put additional efforts. Thank you guys!

Yep, do lots of anticipating. Clarify with them, but don't be surprised if the scope of your role is massive. Have fun!

Hi Guys,

Can someone help me know the ways to get a project release in Accenture. I tried my level best in convincing my manager but they aren’t ready to leave as I’m the crucial resource.

1) My reasons for release request is that no timely promotions/recognitions inspite of being imp resource.
2) Learning scope is too low

I just changed my role to project management...I start to hate this when I'm doing the detailed plans. I have never been a detailed oriented person and it takes too much of my mental energy when working on very details. I guess I'm happy about the change I made but still need to find something I want to do in long run.

Networking question here. A retired partner at the firm I used to work out reached out to me recently about attending an afternoon during the week (b4 4/30) with one of his long time clients. The partner and I have kept in touch since I joined my new firm and I feel like his invitation is a great networking opportunity since the client (who I have worked with before) is on a number of boards. Torn as how to request off as an S3. Could materialize to nothing but could be good for reconnecting.

I got a call for a Java position. I told them I do not develop in Java. I do JavaScript with React. He says “oh yes, that is what the client wants”. So I sent my resume. When he sent the confirmation email it stated Angular/Java. I told him that I don’t have much Java skills. He then sent this (pic) as a response. 🤔🤔🤔
When I spoke to the client she had no idea why the recruiter added angular react as it was just a Java developer position, Completely wasted so much time

Does anyone have advice/ experience with disclosing or advocating for your ADHD support needs in highly toxic environments? Or getting formal disability accommodations?

I’m on a VERY toxic project where I really need accommodations but I am scared there will be repercussions if I personally disclose my ADHD like I have on past projects.

I submitted an HR request for accommodations and it’s been ignored for over a week.

I really can’t take another week of spending every day crying.

Currently in discussions with EY for a position in their Strategy & Transaction team, fdd service line. I made it clear that I am interested in expanding my skillset in the future and maybe work on a strategy project if possible (i want to specialise in an industry, instead of a service line).
Is it possible to do a secondment within the firm in the future if i wanted to do that?

We need to grow quickly to keep up with client work. We hired 4 attorneys since Jan 1. 3 newbies and 1 senior associate with nearly as much experience as the partners. Have 9 total now, but 3 are Of counsel. Hiring newbies is excruciating and a time suck. Do any of you have advice for hiring laterals? Need a staff sergeant to take associate work product of my plate that I can trust… hiring is so stressful

Has anyone successfully pivoted from Project management to consulting? If so, what advice do you have and what industry did you pivot from/into?

I went client side and am miserable - it’s madness on this side. Have made it 90 days and would prefer not to make it more than 120 - but we’re in a pandemic. Half of the problem is that I “onboarded” remote and the onboarding was TERRIBLE. The other thing is that there is no process and I’m on a team full of managers who have spent 15 years at this company and have no availability to talk to me with a day full of meetings. I’d prefer not to quit without a backup but I cry every day.

Unemployment came out at 13.3% vs predicted 20%. How did economists miss it by this long? Don’t they just extract information from very recent data and project it only a few days into the future? Usually you hear 95% confident plus minus 1%. What’s the odd it’s 6% off?

Looking for practical advice on improving my attitude to work.

So imagine an imaginary scale where 0 is the worst piece of work a studio could produce and 10 is the best possible outcome.

As an animator working in an agency, I normally end up involved in projects towards the end, so by the time I get my hands on a project I can add between 1 and 3 depending on how much effort I put in.

If a project is a 3 when I get it, how do I summon the energy to make it a 6 that I could to make a 7 a 10?
