First day on adderall. I feel on fire! Like I am ready to run a marathon type of excitement! That said, I am talking so fast and my brain is going so fast.. i feel like a crazy person . I started at 10mg. Doctor wanted me to do 10mg 2x a day but definitely not. Any tips to look less crazy? Thanks !

Take it with a meal with good protein. Drink a lot of water and no caffeine throughout the day. Maybe ask your doctor about going down to 5mg to start. Give yourself some time to adjust. Also, look up serotonin syndrome and work with your doctor to make sure you’re not on other medications that impact adderall use.

like

This is totally normal. Your body just needs time to adjust and regulate. If you're still feeling this way a few days from now, I'd talk to your doctor about maybe dropping your dosage a bit and see if that helps. I felt this way when I first started on Aderall, but everything evened out a few days in. Good luck!

Might need to take your dosage down a notch chief 😂

If it's your first day ever on Adderall, it may have a different effect. Real chatty, euphoric, etc.

That probably wont happen again. It'll be tamed down and more focus going forward.

like

You might adjust, but you also might need a lower dose. Doctors often start around 20 mg but can’t predict how people metabolize the drug/how sensitive they’ll be. I react strongly to a lot of meds and 5 mg XR works for me. Also, while starting out, try not to add caffeine.

like

Yeah, I assumed they’re on IR since it’s twice a day. Just saying a lower dose as well as the XR version worked better for me.

Remember to eat! And drink water. If you are a coffee drinker, you might want to quit.

So I had half a pill (5mg) and an energy drink and I am feeling fine. I guess 10mg was too much ?

You will develop tolerance quickly. Just enjoy the temporary high. You will never feel it again.

It took me about 3 days

My doctor made it seem like 10 was a pretty low dose, but I’m pretty sensitive to stimulants so i switched to 5. Barely felt anything but it was still an improvement and I didn’t experience any of the weird side effects.

Also, taking my last dose around noon keeps my sleep schedule on track. I still drink coffee but limit it to one cup. Eating beforehand also helps make the effects a little less harsh. Good luck, sounds like a good change for you!

I prefer micro dosing. Taking only a small amount. I stay focused but not the cracked out feeling i assume you are feeling now.

like

You probably mixed it with caffeine if you’re so chatty. I did that for 5 years and now having problems so avoid the caffeine.

like

What problems are you having

The second dose is because you can get tired at the end of the first dose. Takes a few days to acclimate so start low and work your way up or down as needed. I’m still trying to find the right mix. You can cut the pills in halves and quarters too.

like

I will have to do that. I was on a call .. it went bad. I was all over the place. 😰

like

This is how I felt lol I now take 5mg of instant release when I feel I need it, and still get the euphoric/can do anything/on my game feeling

like

No caffeine, be careful on that. Lots of water. I would start on a weekend so you can get used to it and not worry about being weird with clients (I’ve been there!).

helpful

OP: dial down the dose! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

funny

I was prescribed 10 mg twice per day too and I felt the exact same way. I finally started cutting them in half so basically 5mg twice per day. After a couple weeks of getting used to that I was able to move up to the 10mg.

like

Your body builds a tolerance to it pretty quickly, definitively had trouble sleeping the first week or so as it’s essentially a stimulant.
I always like the dad joke, “Can’t concentrate? Do meth about it!” Cause that’s essentially what we are doing lol

like

Ahh I miss these days. Just make sure you drink a lot of water and be conscious to make sure you are not being too long winded. Also try to sound as least monotone as possible when you speak - I noticed I was sounding like a zombie at first when i was first getting used to my dosage.

like

Def do not run a marathon

I am done after a mile. lol

Tried splitting the dosage in half. It’s not enough. Going back to 10 and hope for the best.

I'm on 56mg concerta ... Slow release. I'm 6 ft,. 210#... That's lasts me a good 6 hrs. I've never had it impact me that way though.i should also say that caffeine has no effect on me.

I feel like the fertility process is pulling my hubs and I apart. We’re both not great at communication, but I feel like this stressful process just is not bringing us together at all. Looking for treadmill recommendations. A little detail about me:

-I will use it probably 3 times a week for shorter distance walk/runs
-used to have a peloton tread+ but returned in the recall. Absolutely loved the slat treadmill on my knees/hips
-would ideally like a woodway but $$
-need it for the most basic functions & would watch tv or take peloton / Apple fitness classes on my iPad
-it will go in a garage
-not concerned about having huge incline

Thank you for your input!

Just discovering RSD after being diagnosed as an adult. I feel like SO MUCH of my life has been impacted by this and I just never had a name for it. At work if someone gives me negative or constructive feedback it can feel like a punch in the chest even if I know it's not personal. Makes romantic relationships so hard too. What do you do to handle it especially at work?

How have other firms dealt with employees testing positive for COVID after reopening? I work at an Am Law 200 that reopened in June and has required all employees across all offices to start coming back in to work every day since then. We got notified that an employee in my office received a positive diagnosis but the office isn’t planning to close and doesn’t think contact tracing is necessary though the person likely still came into work every day last week while waiting for their test result.

Hello to anyone who joins!

How do you know when to up the dose on your meds? Currently on 40 mg Vyvanse. I usually get the peak euphoria feeling (super alert) about 1 hour after i take my meds and it lasts for a couple of hours. I work late but have noticed that i spend too much time staring at the screen and keep jumping between tasks. Would upping the dose help me concentrate on one task at a time? If not how do you manage this? What tips would you have to prevent the constant back and forth between tasks? TIA
