It's 6 months for pregnant mothers, and it's more than just parental leave. Super excited about this policy!
It's been a rough couple of months for consulting in general with the layoffs but of all the firms, I felt Deloitte handled it best (not good but better overall). They gave 8 weeks of severance minimum regardless of tenure, paid out MBA sponsorships and you could claim you still worked at the company during the severance period. In comparison, my friend at PwC was a 1st year analyst and got laid off with 2 weeks severance.
Can't comment on the laid off part because everyone has a story, regardless what firm you are coming from. But this policy is a game changer. When a company value it's employees' personal life, it's when employees get happier, increase productivity, stay loyal and many other invisible way to contribute to the firm...
I am with you D1. Really consider jumping now cuz the way they treat the employees....
I was really excited to see Deloitte's new policy because it not only covers taking care of your newborn, but also covers taking care of an aging parent and other life challenges. I haven't read into the conditions thou. Sometimes it may sound good but there are contingencies. For example, EY started offering 16-week paternity leave earlier this year but you have to be the primary care taker. I'm not complaining. This is def a big step forward!!
