If you are starting as an Audit Associate some time from now with Deloitte or any of the big 4, do they expect you to have passed/completed all 4 parts by the time you start? Received the Becker Reimbursement email from the recruiter not too long ago but have yet to start. I’ve seen plenty of people get to Senior at a big 4 firm without the CPA so I am a bit confused in that aspect. Any helpful feedback will be very much appreciated.

tired of having to ask for work. I just want to come in, know what I have to do for the day, and leave at a reasonable hour. You know, like a job. I feel constantly on edge here, never can relax. It’s NYE and I’m just sitting here dreading having to go back 😔
Nah, most real jobs aren’t like public accounting. Client services aren’t your typical jobs.
Public accounting ain’t a normal 9-5 baybee
I’m at a top 20 and it’s not like that. We usually know what we have to do for the week and aren’t hovered over consistently.
Its normal, when i started i hated having to ask my senior for tasks, but as you get more exposure and time you’ll feel more comfortable and accustomed when you roll onto new teams. Heres 3 main pointers:
1. Set up upfront coaching meetings With senior when rolling onto new team
2. In meeting : ask for areas of ownership where you want to be challenged
3. Discuss with managers availability time and what you can do to reduce
This is literally what OP is asking about: no, outside Public you aren't expected to play this manager dick no sucking game that PwC1 says is normal and gives you tips to navigate. This is a joke response.
I left after one month because of this. There’s too many people who put up with this crap, so they aren’t going to change the way they operate. It’s so unfortunate, but do what’s best for you. You worked too hard to feel like this everyday.
OP - if you’re a staff, I’d say this is normal as our new staff don’t often know what needs to be done next and need direction on various tasks. It’s not often practical for a senior or manager to sit down with you to outline the next week of work because it would take hours upfront to walk you through those tasks for the week (rather than as you come to those new tasks - which it’s more likely you retain instructions if it’s somewhat fresh in your mind). Also, if waiting on support, we can’t give you work that we don’t currently have.
As you become a more experienced staff and especially senior / manager, this goes away big time.
High stakes? 😂
