Thoughts on living in Hoboken? I currently have apt in East Village but haven’t moved due to covid and lease expires soon. I’m starting to like the idea of Hoboken, especially since my office will be in Hudson Yards. Post-covid, I also think I’m less tied to living inside Manhattan too. I want space and feel like I could maybe even keep my car with me in Hoboken. Seems generally cheaper too, but I’m less concerned about price than quality of life. Would definitely prefer more bang for $. Thanks!
Some of my friends who are parents said they're not worried about covid because it's very low risk for children. They know I'm a teacher and that I'm in a high-risk category. Makes me feel like they don't care about me.
Older workers and COVID unemployment... bogus firings and more. IBM is called out specifically here. The EEOC found that IBM engaged in “systematic” discrimination against older workers and there’s an open class action lawsuit. The stories in this video are appalling. If you are young, pay attention. You may be older one day - if you’re lucky. This can eventually come around to you. https://youtu.be/sjr27_K8SWc
What has your company said regarding the Omicron variant of COVID? Any adjustments to in-office policies?
CDC's current best estimate is that 35% of Covid infections are asymptomatic and mortality rate for symptomatic infections is only 0.4%. Hindsight is 20/20, but this was all a huge overreaction and not worth the economic cost and long-term negative impact of shutting everything down. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/planning-scenarios.html
A couple of us analysts started a Facebook group, we’re hosting meetings, supporting our community, being of service virtually while coronavirus is going on. Can we claim volunteer hours for this!? :)
Just posting to show off my new unicorn 🦄 badge 💁♂️. Apparently, I’m a coronavirus “enthusiast.” Have a good day!
Need to go out of the country by End of April. Any tips on how can I get a COVID vaccine before that. In my local area, the timeline for my group starts after April 19.
Considering living in west Loop bc with covid I can actually afford it, are there any ~dive~ like bars in the area? I’m all for enjoying some of the nicer bars or restaurants but I really enjoy a pub type atmosphere more. Should I stick to looking in LP? I’d be Moving from WP. Thanks!
I have an offer to start in a week but I haven't given any notice. I'm worried about making the jump and given the Covid19 I have the opportunity to work both - slight overlap. Should I ride both?
My husband and I have a huge combined family. They are also...well...loud. By loud I mean, laughing, debating, talking, all in good cheer. But sometimes arguments can erupt, and there's really no shortage of entertainment and sometimes drama. We're having a smaller gathering this year and wondering what's the best way to navigate all things COVID and health - we love to be close, hug, etc but I know everyone has different comfort levels and I want to be gracious and appease. What's your expert opinion? #QA
I’m dealing with taking care of a 70+ family member that just moved in and is dependent on me. Worried enough about COVID infection. I think my partner may be laid off this week. How to deal??
Does anyone at Accenture have insight on if candidates that received verbal offers prior to Covid-19 will still get written offers within the coming months?
Has anyone successfully talked to their neighbors about noise during this time? New neighbors moved in and their footsteps are driving me crazy. Didn’t have this issue with the neighbor before, I don’t think they have any rugs down. I already blare my tv, use white noise etc to try to drown it out, but I still hear it. Talked to the office but nothing has been done and I would talk to them personally, but concerned with covid situation.
Anyone here caught both the original covid as well as the UK strain? How different did you feel between the two?
COVID led me to leave a T2 consulting firm with only six months on paper to show. Really been having trouble figuring out what I can pitch myself for. (Pre-MBA background is hospitality, eek!) Ideas?
It used to be so easy to do research on hospitals. Now you have to sift through all the Covid stuff first
Hey fish fam, thinking of a side hustle for post covid and was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a good business plan and financial plan template? Specifically for a restaurant. Appreciate any links you can share!
My wife is actively looking for entry level/associate Salesforce positions. Can someone help with the referral? She’s has 3 years of OPT remaining. Any help is greatly appreciated
Hey Everyone!! My name is Goyaam Jain. I have been working with many new startups, and found out that many new startups are just following the trend of having a startup instead of actually solving a problem or understanding what is actually meant by a startup. If you are a startup and solving a problem for people, I would like to share your story to them, inspire them to follow the true path of entrepreneurship. An example of an interview youtu.be/vyfaMJeXVSk If you are interested to share your story, ping me
Keep retirement account in firm 401k or roll over to an IRA when you leave the firm? If latter, do you have a good financial manager or do you not use one?
I’ve always been curious. Is there a reason Accenture is publicly traded company and other consulting firms arent? consulting is client service and wouldnt need CAPEX spending or anything so what is their rationale for wanting to raise public capital?
Got an email in error a long time ago while I was in a non consulting role. The mailing list included people from multiple large consulting firms. How often do competing firms collaborate ?
Have you guys heard of ayahuasca? I spent two months of covid lockdown talking to some guy and now he just told me he did this a few years ago... I’m really not a substance/drug person so idk what to think. He keeps bringing it up in convo, even though it was in the past. I’m trying to be open minded but it’s honestly making me uncomfortable. I’ve read about it, but if anyone’s willing to tell me what they know it would be help. My friends are pretty much like me so they’ve never heard of it.
Damn. Ted got fired.
So how does one tackle going back to a previous org / coworker where it’s didn’t end well. Life was not easy , abusive marriage , ugly divorce, and being treated like no body at work , cause if some stupid rule . I have changed 180 now , but I know people won’t let go of older judgement , the organization is good , my team had the sickest leadership , but the benefits were good .
Is booze allen Hamilton (bah) having any layoffs. Friend joined Bah last year Nov and was on prj till March.been on bench since then and now scared that layoff can happen anytime. Since they are new to bah don't have much network and don't know if others are let go. Any insight will be useful
Does EY offer sign on bonus for exp hires?
Hi folks, Please share Deloitte policies for reimbursement of SAP certification, I am planning to give the same.. As we have option of buying 6 attempts or 1 attempt and there cost varies ..So, how the organisation will reimburse in this scenario or are we Bound to go for 1 attempt only.
Been on the bench 2 weeks and nervous about getting laid off but also 10x happier with my life now that I’m not stressed out 60 hours a week. Is it bad that not working makes me happy...
Have an opportunity to go into REPE but honestly first time considering a career in PE. Very passionate about real estate, but wondering what are exit opportunities/careers paths that stem from REPE? Any insight appreciated.
In the process of being promoted @B4 but I don’t like the people I work for and I’m on the project from hell. The promo has taken so long that I’ve looked elsewhere despite it being my 2nd promo in 3 years. I haven’t had much traction until this past week where I was approached by 4 recruiters with really compelling roles (including FAANG). I know it doesn’t hurt to talk to them but am I an ass for excepting the promo while continuing to look/possibly exiting in the near future?
DM for Accenture Referral!
Resume/LinkedIn question: I am a senior student graduating in a couple of months. I am going to join Google this fall as a SWE. My previous work experience includes an internship at Google, and a summer spent working on open source (PostgreSQL) during Google Summer of Code. In addition to a lot of college coursework projects (CE major). Most of these projects are worth mentioning and they cover a diverse range of fields. At what point should I drop coursework projects from my Resume/LinkedIn?
