First time investor here. I have plans to move $40k into a BlackRock 60:40 fund through LPL Financial. Any helpful thoughts, considerations, encouragement or warnings? Thanks in advance.

What is the expense ratio of the fund and how much are you paying in advisor fees? That's my only potential concern as you could build a similar profile with two or three low cost funds from fidelity or vanguard.

Seems overpriced as mentioned by SM1. I’d check with Vanguard. You could get one or several highly liquid Vanguard ETFs to do the same for you for a fraction of the price. (under 0.10%)

There’s no reason to pay fees on that. Do some googling about three fund portfolios and you’ll avoid the extra costs for the same return

Thank you to everyone who responded! I’ve aborted the BlackRock mission and am on to cheaper alternatives.

What is the Blackrock fund ticker?

Alright, the actual expense ratio is 0.16%. And here is the investment (sorry the pic is blurry):

There's actually many target date funds that have done better than the MSCI world market index. We are talking about 400 dollars here though so provided you get advice, guidance and goal setting that's not bad

Looking for advice. I’m currently interviewing for a position that pays $20k more than I make now. It seems like the job would not be giving me much for my portfolio and may have some work/life balance issues (but tbh what agency doesn’t). I’ve got piles of student loan debt. I’m only in year 2 of my career. Do I take this job for a year, deal with the downsides, pay off a huge chunk of my debt, then get back to fun stuff? Or will it hurt my career to have a portfolio gap?
