First time luxury car buyer. Really liked a Macan I test drove yesterday. It was a corporate pre-owned car and not “certified pre-owned” by Porsche. It was certified by the dealer. Are pre-owned and certified pre-owned similar? With only ~5k miles I’m thinking it shouldn’t be a big difference. Would love insights from anyone who’s done this before!

Certified by dealer means nothing. Find a real CPO Macan or get one from Carmax with their warranty.

Agreed with SC1 - id even argue that the Carmax Maxcare warranty is better than CPO warranty. If i remember correctly, there was an option to have Maxcare coverage up to 150,000 miles!

Thanks SC1. But with only 5k miles and a 4yr factory warranty remaining is it still not worth looking into? It’s cheaper than “Porsche CPOs”

I don't know if it's worth the hassle. I would never touch a Porsche without a proper PDI at a dealership, even if it is low miles. If you like that certain car, I'd suggest a PDI at a dealer, and then find a dealer on rennlist who is willing to sell you the extended warranty (If you plan to keep the car long term)

Corporate pre-owned with low miles but not CPO likely means it was a press car. Those 5k miles were probably fairly hard driving and seeing what the car is capable of. Wouldn’t scare me off but just FYI
