Don't abuse your CC.

Second that, use common sense. Last thing you'd want to do is get canned for expense abuse

I just went to whole foods for dinner then bought like random house items

And while I'm standing in a soapbox, I heard that at Kpmg, if they're allocated $70 a day and they don't spend the full amount, the remaining balance gets added on to their paycheck. Wtf

like

^that. Expense what you need to do your job and maintain your sanity, but don't abuse it. It's either client money or partner money, and you probably want to make partner one day.

Jesus... How about not committing fraud for a couple bucks?

like

Everyone I'm sure OP isn't trying to commit fraud but wants to know how to make the most of her/his expenses. Maybe she/he doesn't know if her/his company expenses travel fitness expenses (mine does) and such. Let OP have fun!

For example at whole foods I'll buy a take home dinner and add a hipster organic deodorant; a simple harmless add on.

Thanks Deloitte 1! Yes, I was looking for such insight with humor that was very defensively received ... Sheesh

Can KPMG confirm this ?

Our per diem for the week gets paid out directly to bank account. So yes, in theory D1 is correct, but the reality is that it pretty much evens out in the end especially if you like 🍷

Ummm... Everything. Expense everything

like

@Kpmg2 originally I thought that the remaining balance of the piem gets sent to your account. So if you get the money up front, are meals paid with your personal card?

Yep I pay all my meals with personal card

Use personal for all meals, but we don't get paid up front. You still have to include the per diem on the expense report to get the money in the next expense cycle. There's a certain amount for breakfast, lunch and dinner according to the city you are in (e.g. NYC is $74/day = 17 + 18 + 34 + 5 (B, L, D & incidentals)) so you claim 4 B, L, D for the week unless someone else pays for a group dinner, for example.
